Nkana Extend Winning Run to Five as Mines Hold Red Arrows; Leopards and Kansanshi Claim Narrow Victories

Nkana FC continued their impressive resurgence in the MTN Super League with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Nkwazi FC, extending their winning streak to five matches, while FC Leopards and Kansanshi Dynamos also recorded crucial narrow wins on a busy Wednesday in Week 19. Elsewhere, Mines United held league leaders Red Arrows to a 1–1 draw in Kabwe.

Nkana Maintain Momentum in Lusaka

At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkana maintained their fine form with a disciplined performance that yielded maximum points against Nkwazi.

The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute when Idriss Ilunga Mbombo reacted quickest to a rebound after goalkeeper Lukas Mainza failed to deal convincingly with a long-range effort from Charles Zulu. Mbombo made no mistake from close range to hand Kalampa the lead.

Nkana were then forced to withstand late pressure after Nkwazi were awarded a penalty, but goalkeeper Patrick Chooma produced a superb save to deny Christopher Zulu, preserving Nkana’s narrow advantage.

The victory lifts Nkana to ninth place on 25 points, underlining their remarkable turnaround in recent weeks, while Nkwazi slip to 15th place on the log.

Leopards End Winless Run in Kabwe Derby

At President Stadium, FC Leopards brought an end to an eight-match winless run with a vital 1–0 victory over Kabwe Warriors in the Kabwe Derby.

An early goal proved decisive as Wilmore Haatembo rose highest to power home a header in the fifth minute, giving the hosts the perfect start. Leopards defended resolutely for the remainder of the contest to secure all three points.

The win moves Leopards up to 16th place with 15 points, while Kabwe Warriors missed an opportunity to push into the league’s top four.

Kansanshi Capitalise on Error to Beat Zanaco

In Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos claimed a significant 1–0 home win over Zanaco at Independence Stadium.

The match was settled by Francisco Madinga, who capitalised on a defensive lapse and goalkeeper error to score the only goal of the game in the 37th minute. The Mabanga Boys held firm thereafter to claim a valuable victory.

The result lifts Kansanshi Dynamos to 13th place, while Zanaco missed a chance to climb into third position on the MTN Super League table.

Mines Hold Leaders Red Arrows

At Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium, Mines United earned a creditable 1–1 draw against league leaders Red Arrows, denting the Airmen’s title momentum.

Red Arrows took the lead in the 40th minute through Albert Kangwanda, whose effort benefited from a goalkeeping error after he received a pass from Ackim Mumba and drove towards goal.

Mines United responded strongly in the second half and were rewarded in the 59th minute when Davies Sinyinza headed home the equaliser, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.

The draw means Red Arrows extend their lead at the summit by just one point, missing an opportunity to create a three-point cushion, while Mines United picked up a morale-boosting result in their fight at the bottom.
