Nkana FC have confirmed that defender Mathews Banda has returned to his parent club Kafue Celtic, bringing his loan spell with the Kitwe giants to an end.
Banda, who joined Nkana on loan in August 2023, will not be unavailable for selection for the club’s MTN Super League Week 18 clash against FC Leopards following the recall.
Confirming the development, Nkana FC Media and Communications Manager Mike Mubanga praised the defender’s impact during his time at the club.
“Mathews Banda has been recalled by his parent club, Kafue Celtic, and as a result will no longer be available for selection,” Mubanga said.
“He joined Nkana FC on loan in August 2023 and went on to become an important player for the club.”
Banda’s performances in the red and white earned him recognition beyond club football, with the defender also featuring in the Chipolopolo Boys squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mubanga added that the club was grateful for Banda’s professionalism and contribution.
“We would like to thank Mathews for his commitment and contribution during his time at Nkana FC and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” he said.
