Nchanga Rangers have appointed experienced tactician Anderson Phiri as their first assistant coach on a one-year contract.
The Chingola-based club confirmed the appointment on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, with Phiri filling a position that had remained vacant since the departure of Boyd Mulwanda approximately 18 months ago.
Phiri brings more than two decades of coaching experience, having worked with clubs across Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia.
His coaching career began in 2000 when he joined Zimbabwean outfit Railstars FC as a player-coach before eventually taking charge as head coach.
He has since built an extensive coaching résumé, with previous assignments at Zimbabwe Saints, Botswana’s Jwaneng Comets, FC Platinum, Power Dynamos, Mufulira Wanderers and Lumwana Radiants.
His most recent role was as head coach of Namibian Premiership side Bucks Buccaneers.
Among his notable achievements are guiding Railstars to promotion in 2002, winning the Unity Cup with Zimbabwe Saints in 2004 and lifting the Charity Shield with FC Platinum in 2013.
Nchanga Rangers president David Mukelabai welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Phiri’s experience and knowledge would strengthen the club’s technical bench.
“We are delighted to welcome Coach Anderson Phiri to Nchanga Rangers Football Club. His wealth of experience, having worked with various clubs both locally and internationally, is an important addition to our technical team,” Mukelabai said.
“As an Executive Committee (ExCo), we are confident that his knowledge, experience and understanding of the game will add value to the technical bench as we continue working towards achieving the club’s objectives.”
Phiri’s arrival is expected to add experience and depth to the technical department as the Chingola outfit continues its campaign in Zambian football.
