NAPSA Stars edge  ZESCO United in rescheduled encounter

NAPSA Stars edged ZESCO United 1-0 in a rescheduled MTN Super League week eight encounter played at Reiz Arena on Thursday afternoon.

The Pensioners went into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-2 loss away in Mazabuka while Zega Mambo were coming off a Champions League group stage qualification.

It was a cage affair with both teams working hard to avoid conceding early.

Abraham Siankombo was a busy bee on the wing while Rally Bwalya was pulling strings in the middle of the park for the Pensioners.

Godfrey Binga almost put the Pensioners on the lead with a snap shot that went just wide off Victor Sochima’s goal.

The visitors were forced to make a change in the first half after Chanda Mukuka limped out due to an injury and was replaced by David Simukonda.

NAPSA Stars finally broke the deadlock after Christopher Darton Bwalya’s free kick bounced in front of Sochima and went above him into the net to break the deadlock. The Pensioners went to the break with a comfortable 1-0 lead.

In the second half, ZESCO United interim coach Emmanuel Siwale brought in Pascal Phiri, Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga and Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba to try and push for an equalizer.

However NAPSA Stars were compact and held on to win the match 1-0, their second win of the season.
