Napsa Confirm CAF threw out Gor Mahia request to postpone match

Zambia’s envoys in the CAF Confederation Cup Napsa Stars have confirmed that their opponents in the penultimate group stage game Gor Mahia requested the encounter to be moved to Monday after their travel arrangements were thrown in shambles on Friday.

Unlike insinuations that the decision was up to the Pensioners, Napsa Stars have stated that CAF threw out the request.

“Gor Mahia made the request to move the match to Monday but CAF refused; the match officials are already booked to fly out tomorrow (Monday) so it would have meant extra costs on air tickets and lodging. CAF told them that there would be no postponement,” a Napsa official told the ZamFoot Crew.

“On our part, it would have meant that we incur extra costs of camping the team an extra day.”

Gor Mahia were scheduled to arrive in Lusaka on Friday but failed to make the trip and only arrived in Lusaka on Sunday afternoon less than three hours before kick-off.

Napsa carry the advantage going into the second leg having beaten the visitors 1 – 0 in the first leg played in Nairobi.
