Nakambala consolidate 2nd position with Tigers win

Nakambala Leopards consolidated their second position on the log when they came from behind to beat ten man Lusaka Tigers 2 – 1 to condemn the Matero side to their first loss at home.

Nakambala who are coached by veteran trainer Patrick Phiri remain unbeaten this season and have cut Nkana’s lead to four points.

Signs Chibambo scored both goals for Nakambala to see Tigers drop to 6th position from the third position they occupied before the games.

Steward Chikandiwa joined Walter Bwalya on top of the top scorers chart with another goal for Nkwazi as he helped them to a 3 – 1 win over Red Arrows. Justine Shonga and Edward Mwamba scored the other goals for Nkwazi.

At Sunset stadium, Green Buffaloes emerged victors over hosts Lusaka Dynamos with goals from Jack Chirwa and Christopher Katongo while Conlyde Luchanga scored his first of the season.

Buffaloes started the game on the front foot and were unlucky not to be given a goal in the first quarter of the an hour when a shot from outside the box came off the cross bar and bounced back in-field and the officials ruled that it was not a goal.

Buffaloes had started with Lottie Phiri in midfield but he was substituted in the 42nd minute for Jack Chirwa. Chirwa unleashed a speculative shot from outside the box which beat the Dynamos goalkeeper for the opening goal in the 44th minute.

Katongo added another in the second half when he finished from close range after Dynamos failed to deal with a corner with the ball ricocheting off a number of players before it fell kindly for the Buffaloes captain.

Dynamos looked dangerous on the counter attack with Luchanga showing some individual brilliance but he lacked the combination play to carry the team forward.

Luchanga however made the most of one of the counter attacks when a long ball switched from the left found him free on the right side of the box. Once had brought the ball under control, he unleashed a belter which left the keep no chance coming off the cross bar.
