Forward Kelvin Mwanza has described the team’s unexpected trip to Argentina as a dream opportunity, as Chipolopolo prepare to face world champions Argentina national football team in a high-profile international friendly set for today.
Originally, Zambia had been gearing up for the Mukuru Four Nations Tournament, but plans took a dramatic turn when the team was instead scheduled to travel to Argentina for the prestigious encounter.
The sudden change has not dampened spirits in camp, with the players embracing the moment and the rare chance to compete against one of the best teams in world football.
Speaking ahead of the match, the FC MUZA forward expressed gratitude and excitement about the opportunity, while crediting faith for the turn of events.
“It’s a pleasure. It’s what everyone who plays football wishes for. God works in mysterious ways. All thanks to God,” said Mwanza.
He also highlighted the warm reception the team has received since arriving in Buenos Aires, noting the positive environment that has helped the squad settle quickly.
“It has been a great outing. They welcomed us very well. All thanks to the people here,” he added.
On preparations, Mwanza emphasized the intensity and commitment within the squad, with players fully focused ahead of the big test.
“Training has been going
very well. Everyone has been pushing and doing their best, so going into the game, it will be a great one,” he said.
The Chipolopolo Boys will face La Albiceleste in Buenos Aires today at 20:15 local time (Wednesday, April 1, 2026, 01:15 Zambian time).
