LIVINGSTONE — Super Division debutants FC MUZA have shed light to the reason behind their coach Nowell Phiri’s absence from the technical bench during their two-weeks preseason camp in Lusaka.
And MUZA have announced the inclusion of Coach Dabwiso Nkoma to beef up their technical bench ahead of the commencement of the 2019 FAZ/MTN Super league.
Coach Phiri’s absence from the technical bench has raised eyebrows with many assuming he has already been fired as per traditional – like in the past when he has been subsequently sacked after winning promotion with Real Nakonde and Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy.
However in a communique released to the press FC MUZA Communications Director said the absence of Coach Nowell Phiri from the technical bench should not raise eyebrows as he was just on administrative leave to sort out personal issues.
The communique further read Coach Phiri will return as soon as he finishes attending to his personal issues.
“The F.C MUZA Technical Bench remains the same as before but has been strengthened by the addition of Dabwiso Nkhoma to the
Technical Bench,” reads the communique.
“In the meantime, the absence of Nowell Phiri from the Technical
Bench during this pres eason period should not raise any eyebrows
as Mr. Phiri is just on Administrative leave to sort out
personal issues and will return as soon as he has finished
attending to his personal issues.
” In short, coach Phiri is still very much part and parcel ever hard working remain part of the F.C MUZA F.C MUZA family and family forever regardless of future decisions that may be made by the vision either the Club will any or himself as he is somebody who understands and appreciates the long term objectives of F.C MUZA.”
Meanwhile FC MUZA have officially announced the change of name from Manchester United Zambia Academy to Maestro United Zambia Football Club.
The move has been triggered by the demands of Clubs licensing.
“F.C MUZA remains the same except that the initials now stand for Maestro United Zambia Football Club and the change has been necessitated by the demands of Club Licensing,” the communique reads.
MUZA won promotion to the Super Division for the first time in their club history by finishing top of the 2018 FAZ Division One Zone Four. The other promoted sides are Mufulira Wanderers, Circuit City and Prisons Leopards.
