Zambian forward Kingstone Mutandwa continued his impressive scoring run with a brace as Servette FC cruised to a 4-0 victory over FC Rotkreuz to book their place in the last 16 of the Swiss Cup.
Mutandwa has now scored six goals in his last five matches, underlining his growing influence in front of goal as Servette maintain their positive momentum.
The 0-4 victory in the canton of Zug saw Servette deliver a professional performance, with Mutandwa playing a key role in their comfortable progression to the next round.
Thomas Lopes opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Mutandwa doubled Servette’s advantage five minutes before half-time, putting the visitors firmly in control at the break.
After a less convincing start to the second half, Servette restored their authority when Mutandwa struck again in the 74th minute, finishing off a move set up by Allix to complete his brace.
Pedro Naressi then capitalised on a goalkeeping error to add a fourth and seal a comprehensive victory for the Geneva-based side.
Servette head coach Jocelyn Gourvennec made five changes to his starting line-up following his team’s impressive 3-0 league victory over FC Sion, but his side showed enough quality and efficiency to secure qualification.
For Mutandwa, the latest double continues a rich vein of form that will boost his confidence as he looks to maintain his scoring momentum.
With four goals scored, a clean sheet and a place in the Swiss Cup last 16 secured, Servette can look ahead to the next round with confidence, while the Zambian striker’s recent exploits continue to attract attention.
