Indeni Roses 1-0 Green Buffaloes (Esther Mushota)
Indeni Roses on Wednesday afternoon edged Green Buffaloes Women Football Club 1-0 courtesy of Esther Mushota’s first half in a 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League rescheduled week 7 played at Indeni Sports Complex in Ndola.
The Oilo Ladies went into this match desperate for a win especially that they were facing a Buffaloes side that had won all 3 games against the Roses since 2016 before this match.
The first meeting which was played on 16th December 2016 saw Buffaloes winning 3-0 before back-to-back matches in the 2019 Charity Shield and 2020 National Women’s Championship which both ended 1-1 in regulation time but Buffaloes triumphed 5-4 and 3-1 respectively via penalty shootouts.
Esther Mushota scored the only goal of the match after a well-taken cross from Captain Esther ‘Onga’ Mukwasa was acrobatically missed by the Veteran Noria ‘Mbesuma’ Sosala and Mushota pounced on it, slotting home from close range to put the home side in the lead and that was enough for the Coach Wisdom Kaira drilled lasses to condemn Buffaloes to only their second defeat of the season.
This win has taken The Roses to 36 points from 18 games played and occupying the third position, 1 point behind second-placed Lusaka Dynamos and 6 points behind log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls while Buffaloes remain in the seventh position with 25 points from 11 games played.
Indeni’s next assignment this weekend is a long trip to Lusaka to face Red Arrows Women Football Club at Nkoloma Stadium in another Titanic clash, A rescheduled week 16 encounter while Buffaloes will host log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls at the Green Square Ground in Arakan in another tricky affair between two giant of Women’s Football in a Rescheduled week 14 with both games set to kick-off at 10:00hrs.
The FAZ Women’s Super League action will continue tomorrow Thursday, 16th September 2021 as Nkwazi Queens will welcome Mufulira Wanderers Women Football Club at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka in a rescheduled week 7 at 10:00hrs.
This will be the first-ever meeting between High Flying Nkwazi and The Mighty Ladies and there will be so much at stake with the Police sponsored side being the favorite on paper to win this game against Abena Milambo Ladies who be fighting for their first win in Lusaka.
