Mosimane: Mukuka Mulenga can go

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has told Mukuka Mulenga that he will be released if any team is interested in his services.

Mukuka who signed for Sundowns in 2013 has not kicked a ball for the club in any competitive match and is this season training at Sundowns but can not play for the Brazilians as the club has exhausted its foreign quota.

“We are going to release them to go if there is a team interested. But we have to honour their contracts, we can’t dump them,” Mosimane told kickoff on Mukuka and another Nigerian striker.

The 22 year old talented midfielder spent the 2014/2015 season on loan at Bloemfontein Celtic where he played 19 games.

He failed to play to for Sundowns in hid first season due to injury.

  1. Sundowns is not a team to go to even if the money is good. We don’t even know if the boy will ever regain his form. The boy is low in confidence and generally mentally not in the right frame of mind.

  2. Mukuka Mulenga should just humble himself and come back to power dynamos…moreover his still young and can regain his fitness. all he needs is game time and he can have that at power. At 23, his got years to his career and come back. Though i feel sad for the boy.

  3. That has been my song to Zambian players who had the ambition of plying their trade abroad – PLEASE DON’T EVER BE LURED INTO SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH SUNDOWNS OTHERWISE, YOU WILL BE DOOMED.

  4. Zamfoot says “…the 22 year old talented midfielder….” If he is THAT talented how come the chap has barely kicked a ball for his club for 3yrs? Sundown never saw what you see in him, again as the media you also over-hype players who then fail to tick according to the expectations of clubs and fans. Let him just come home to Zambia.

    • Its common sense why did Sundowns buy Him if He had no talent, most times you might think you a making a Valid comment but”alas”you just contradicting yourself. You don’t stay in South Africa you just fancy or hear it from afar, to be honest the boy was just mislead and ended up being destroyed. SOCCER POLITICS.

    • He got signed. It was not the media hyping Mukuka Mulenga it was HR and Kalu. He was mostly hype because he had yet really done allot except for his Power Dynamos last season and only one or two good international performances among allot that he played because HR and Kalu were raving about him. The rest of the international caps i didnt rate him. He is not a player that can force any issue and for that he is limited and would always prefer other players in his place.

  5. He wz the most valuable in the 2013 cosafa tournament n that’s wat attracted clubs from SA n Israel. The boy wz jst affected by that year long injury. Otherwise, he still hs the talent. O he needs z enuf game time.

  6. Isn’t it Funny how every time a Zambian player flops in any league then all of a sudden its the coach or club or league that is useless, never the player. The same Pitso some people are calling useless is top of the log half way through the season. When Mukuka came on board at Sundowns he was being touted as being as good if not better than the Zimbabwean Billiat but look now, Billiat is scoring goals for fun and Mukuka cant even make the cut.

Lets not be too quick to play the blame game and point fingers before doing an introspective look at ourselves first. The player had a year long injury and truth be told he just never came out as strong after that, how do we blame the coach, club or league for that? Even at Celtic he got game time but could certainly not be placed in the group of the best players at Celtic. His performances were good but certainly not head turning.

I feel bad for the lad. We are also to blame as the expectation on his shoulders was sky high from all of us. He is still young and with just a bit more hunger can pull himself out of this slump, he certainly has the talent all that’s left is the confidence and will.

Sundowns do have a reputation of destroying careers and this is as a result of them buying double digit number of players every season as naturally a huge group of players will fall by the wayside. But in this case (Mukuka) we cant just entirely blame this on the club, he did have a year long injury and just not enough game time after that.

      • Don’t just respond without checking facts first, that’s the problem with too many of you arm chair critics.

Both Sundowns and Aces are on 30 points but Sundowns top the log on goal difference they have a goal difference of 13 goals and Aces have a goal difference of 11

    • Sometimes I tend to agree with you although I am not a fanatic of Sundowns having been here in South Africa from 1993 and I have watched many Zambian players plying their career here in South Africa including Albert Bwalya ,Shadreck Biemba, Ackson Shimbala, Christopher Mwakapuki plus Wedson Nyirenda.I am of the view that most of the current crop of Zambian players have not risen to the occasion here in South Africa and if you can see Gift Kampamba was a regular player in the starting line up of Sundowns and he even helped them to reach the finals of African Champions League .Chaswe started very well for Sundowns but later on he never ticked. So I concur with you that the Zambian players are talented but not very determined to excel.

    • Big Steve. I partially agree with your assessment, but I think we can all agree that Sundowns is not a club that Zambians should flock to. The club has a long history of heaping ridiculous expectation on its coach and players, but also purchasing way more foreigners than they have the capacity to play.

Too many names have filtered through that meat grinder for us to say they were simply not talented enough. Rodson Kilambe, Sashi Chalwe, Collins Mbesuma, Hichane Himoonde, now Mukuka Mulenga and Kennedy Mweene had all arrived at that club with great potential to succeed, but the hyper pressure that comes with playing at that club kills careers. The club is just not a good choice for any Zambian player with potential to join. I said this, even when Mukuka Mulenga signed because that club lacks the necessary patience it takes to develop an unpolished player like Mukuka Mulenga.

  7. useless sundowns!! pliz release kennedy mweene, we want our first choice goalkeeper to have enough game time. stupid mosimane u wil not win the ligue this season u are in trouble with Mbesuma & mpumalanga black aces.

  8. I conquer with one of the comments, let’s not over praise these players ,some they haven’t even played football which can convince foreign teams to pick them, mukuka is young yes,but he’s never played that kind of football which soundown can bank on him,in fact the club made an error .
Same to conlyde luchinga, let’s not over praise him, right now he’s not playing that kind of football, which can see him fit to play for the national team.Let’s allow players to grow into mature players that are able to stand mentally and physically.
