Mufulira Wanderers, Mutondo Stars a win away from Super League promotion as City look to spoil the party

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers will be looking to return to the Zambian top flight for the first time since 2020. 

The legendary Cup fighters were relegated during the 2019/2020 season after the COVID-19 forced the season to end at week 27. 

The Nine time Super League Champions need to win their final game to seal their promotion.

Wanderers host Konkola Blades who themselves have already secured promotion to the Super Division at the legendary Shinde Stadium  on Sunday afternoon with all to play for. 

Patson Kwataime would like to help his team to secure promotion to the Super League before switching his focus to the National Team after being named in coach Avram Grant’s provisional squad for the Ivory Coast encounter. 

Fans will only pay for VVIP, VIP and grandstand as open wing is free. Gates at Shinde Stadium will open at 11:00hrs. 

Elsewhere, Mutondo Stars are also a win away from winning promotion. 

The new baby on the block host Young Buffaloes and a win will see them secure promotion to the Super League. 

City of Lusaka can sneak in should either Mutondo Stars or Mufulura Wanderers fail to win their games. 

At the bottom, Atletico Lusaka and Livingstone Pirates need to avoid defeat against Kafue Eagles and Kitwe United respectively to maintain their National Division status. 

Aguila Stars on the hand need to beat Mpulungu Harbour and hope either Atletico Lusaka or Livingstone Pirates drop points to have any chance of surviving relegation.

  1. I do not D1 football that much but I’ll tell you I’m a big fan of City, I would love to see them in the Zed PL next season🤞🏾 anyways fingers crossed.
