MTN Super League Week 20 Preview: Arrows Guard the Summit as Nkana Chase Six, Wanderers Face Rangers

The MTN Super League returns this weekend with a packed Week 20 programme headlined by a top-versus-bottom duel in Lusaka and a heavyweight Copperbelt clash in Mufulira.

Arrows Aim to Tighten Grip at the Top

Log leaders Red Arrows will be eager to stretch their advantage at the summit when they host struggling NAPSA Stars at Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday.

The Airmen come into the fixture on the back of consecutive draws and will be keen to return to winning ways, especially with rivals keeping close tabs below them. NAPSA, meanwhile, begin a new chapter after the dismissal of coach Sipho Mumbi following a poor run of results.

The Pensioners have managed just four wins all season and sit only two points above the relegation zone, having lost 1–0 to Mufulira Wanderers in midweek.

Recent history favours Arrows, with NAPSA claiming just one win in the last five meetings between the sides.

Nkana Target Sixth Straight Victory

In Saturday’s early kick-off, resurgent Nkana FC travel to Reiz Arena to face Green Buffaloes, chasing a sixth successive league win.

Nkana coach Mwenya Chipepo has highlighted unity, improved fitness and internal competition as key drivers behind Kalampa’s rise to ninth place.

Nkana are unbeaten in nine matches, winning their last five and keeping clean sheets in four straight games. Despite Buffaloes’ modest recent form, Chipepo has warned against complacency, particularly with the hosts boosted by the return of winger Golden Mashata.

Idris Ilunga Mbombo is expected to spearhead Nkana’s attack alongside Charles Zulu and Lazarus Kambole.

Warriors Seek Relief, Leopards Build Momentum

At Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium, Kabwe Warriors host Nkwazi FC with both sides desperate for points. Warriors have one win in seven, while Nkwazi arrive eager to bounce back from a narrow defeat to Nkana.

Masauso Tembo’s side will look to Carlos Kaoma, Christopher Zulu and Bernard Kumwenda for inspiration.

In Lusaka, Zanaco FC welcome FC Leopards at Sunset Stadium. Zanaco are searching for consistency, while Leopards are buoyed by a midweek win that ended an eight-match winless streak.

Wanderers vs Rangers: Copperbelt Classic

Sunday’s standout fixture sees fourth-placed Wanderers host third-placed Nchanga Rangers at Shinde Stadium, with only goal difference separating the two sides.

Wanderers are flying after three straight wins, including a gritty victory over NAPSA, while Rangers are winless in three and keen to rediscover their edge. Paul Tembo, Patson Kwataime and Joseph Tumbwe will be key for the hosts, with Christopher Itaka leading Rangers’ attack. Nchanga have edged recent meetings, adding extra spice to an already tantalising encounter.

Tight Battles Elsewhere

At Konkola Stadium, Konkola Blades welcome Kansanshi Dynamos in a clash between two sides separated by just two points. Both teams know each other well and recent head-to-heads suggest another closely fought contest.

In Kitwe, Mutondo Stars host FC MUZA, with MUZA looking to consolidate their top-five position against a Mutondo side battling near the foot of the table.
