Zambian forward Moses Phiri scored an overhead to help Tanzanian side Simba to a 2-0 win over Nyasa Big Bullets in the first leg of the CAF Champions League in Lilongwe, Malawi on Saturday.
The Dar es Salaam based went into the match as favourites and backed up their pedigree on the continent with a vital 2-0 win.
Phiri, who joined from Zambian side Zanaco as a free agent gave the visitors with a contender for the goal of the competition.
After the break, Simba increased their caution to 2 goals.
Simba were captained by Zambian midfielder Clatous Chota Chama.
The winner between Simba and Nyasa Big Bullets will face either Red Arrows or Angolan side Primero de Agosto.
Agosto took 1-0 aggregate into the second leg in Luanda after beating Red Arrows on Saturday at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium.
