Morocco’s impressive 19-game winning streak came to an end on Friday night after Mali fought back to secure a 1-1 draw in their AFCON 2025 Group A encounter.
The Atlas Lions looked on course to continue their fine run after Brahim Díaz converted a first-half stoppage-time penalty (45+5’) to give Morocco the lead going into the break.
However, Mali showed great resilience in the second half and were rewarded when Lassine Sinayoko calmly slotted home a 64th-minute penalty to restore parity.
The draw marked the first time Morocco have failed to win a match since March 2024, bringing an end to a dominant run that had seen them establish themselves as one of Africa’s most in-form sides.
