The Zambia Women’s National Team have been reassured that they will get the same allowances the senior men’s team is paid.
Sports Minister, Honourable Elvis Nkandu reassured the Queens when he was responding to the captain Barbra Banda who was seeking clarity on the matter.
Honourable Nkandu who is in New Zealand told the team that the President, His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema had directed that the two teams’ be paid equal allowances.
Should the Copper Queens beat Japan in their opening game they will be entitled to $5, 000 each.
“As you know the President has directed us that both females and Males should be getting the same allowances of $5,000. So tomorrow as you take on Japan, if you win, you will be entitled to $5,000 each,” Nkandu said.
“The onus is now on you to do the job tomorrow and we will do the rest,” he added.
Zambia face Japan on Saturday in a Group C opening tie with kickoff at 09H00 CAT at the FMG Stadium.
Equal pay for Equal work cardinal to Women & Girls participation.
Copper Queens you have no excuse now. Go and enjoy yourselves on that pitch.
Coach Grant already said. Out there on the pitch its 11 vs 11. It is decided there not on paper.
