Zambian teenager Mercy Chipasula has completed her move to Danish champions HB Køge Women, taking the next step in her career after signing from Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens.
The 18-year-old winger’s move had been agreed for some time, but her arrival in Denmark was delayed while she waited for her work permit. That process has now been completed, clearing the way for Chipasula to join the HB Køge squad.
She has been handed the No. 10 shirt at the Danish club.
HB Køge sporting director Jonas Nielsen says the club had been eager to bring the Zambian youngster on board and believes she possesses qualities that are difficult to find in young players.
“Mercy has something extra that we rarely find in young players in Denmark. She is strong one-on-one and can do some things with the ball that we have been missing in the squad,” Nielsen said.
He also revealed that HB Køge faced competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs for Chipasula’s signature.
“She has just turned 18, so we have to give her time and be patient. But I would like to promise our fans that we have signed a player who will entertain,” he added.
Rapid rise with Zambia
Chipasula arrives in Denmark with considerable international experience despite her young age.
She was only 17 when she was called into the Zambia senior squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which was eventually played in 2025.
The winger started Zambia’s group-stage meeting with the Democratic Republic of Congo and also featured in the quarter-final against Nigeria.
Chipasula was again part of the Copper Queens squad at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, making two appearances during the group stage.
Her rise through the national-team ranks began even earlier. Before establishing herself at senior level, she represented Zambia at two FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups.
Her move to HB Køge now gives her the opportunity to continue that development in one of Europe’s established women’s football environments.
Champions League football awaits
Chipasula joins a club that has become a regular contender at the top of Danish women’s football.
HB Køge have won the Danish championship three times, in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23, and have also gained valuable experience in European competition.
The club are competing in the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League league phase, having come through the qualifying rounds.
They opened their campaign with a narrow 1–0 defeat away to Arsenal and are also due to face Servette, Barcelona, OH Leuven, Paris FC and Benfica.
For Chipasula, that means the move comes with the prospect of testing herself against some of the biggest names in European women’s football.
The teenager says HB Køge’s track record and the opportunity to develop were central to her decision.
“I chose to join the club because I believe it is the best place for me to develop. I am still young and know that I have a lot to learn,” Chipasula said.
“The proud history of the club was also an important reason why I chose to come here. I am really looking forward to getting started and starting a new chapter in my career.”
With her work permit finally in place, Chipasula can now turn her attention to football and adapting to life in Denmark.
For the Copper Queens youngster, it is another important step in a journey that has already taken her from Zambia’s youth national teams to the senior side — and now onto one of Europe’s biggest club stages.
