Zambia Under-15 National Team coach Chisi Mbewe has named his final 23 member squad for the Croatia ‘Vlatko Markovic’ 8-Nation Invitational tournament that kicks off on September 23.
During a media briefing, Mbewe said his technical team had looked at over 500 boys across the country during the selection process.
Mbewe said that the lads that not made it for the Croatia outing would be kept on the radar for future engagements.
“We have seen so much talent in the 500 players that we called for the trials and the doors are still open to those young kids who did not make the final list. This project is to develop these young players into great players for the national team,” Mbewe said.
The team comprises three goalkeepers namely: Perry Chipindi, Martin Chulu, Joseph Mulenga. The five defenders that have made the cut are Owen Gondwe, Patrick Malama, Ashley Kalaba, Taonga Mkandawire, Lyson Banda, Ricky Chanda, Sekanji Siame, Emmanuel Kateka.
In midfield, Mbewe has roped in eight midfielders and they are Aaron Simpasa, Tyson Banda, Mbemba Phiri, Perkings Mwale, Joseph Banda, Emmanuel Mutale, Emmanuel Mwanza, Paul Mwape.
The team will bank for goals in Joseph Ndau, Samson Malupenga, Patrick Simwinga and Thomas Mwambazi who are expected to lead the frontline.
Prior to arriving in Croatia for the tournament that kicks off on 23 September, the team will make a stop-over in Egypt where they will face Zamalek in a friendly match.
