Mbesuma scores as Mweene leaks in three

Collins Mbesuma handed Mpumalanga Black Aces a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United with a clinical right-foot finish in the PSL.

Mbesuma got his goal which his fifth of the campaign in the 71st minute.

The Zambian striker who started and completed the game has played 25 of his team’s 26 games as he continues to enjoy a good spell of game time.

In another match in the PSL, Kennedy Mweene got only his second taste of action this calendar year when he came off the bench in the 25th minute after Mamelodi Sundowns first choice goalie Denis Onyango was red carded.

However, it was a difficult return for Mweene as he conceded three goals in a humiliating defeat for Sundowns as they went down 5 – 0 at home to Bloemfontein Celtic.

Zambian international Mukuka Mulenga who was in fine form came off the bench in the 48th minute with the game at 3 – 0 and within eight minutes he had already created 4 chances with two of those going in to seal the win for Celtic.

Joseph Musonda watched from the bench as his team Polokwane City 2 – 0 to Bornwell Mwape’s Amazulu. Mwape is out injured.

  1. @tony mash He maybe useful There are number of aspects that should considered for to be scored. Sometimes is the defenders might have been caught ball watching

  2. You can’t blame Mweene for football is a team game. In any case, by the time he went into the goal posts, their team was already down 2-0 and they had been reduced to 10 men.
The Coach hasn’t been using him as often as he deserves, so he is also lacking game time.

  3. Sundowns were already 2-0 down and one man down when Mweene came in. The team’s spirit was a bit low and there was nothing Mweene could do at this time. Mukuka Mulenga and his Bloem Celtics colleagues were all over Sundowns. It’s the first time I saw Mukuka play like that since the COSAFA cup 2 years ago in Zambia.

    • Nonsense. Why call him useless? They Were one man less. How was Mweena’s defence? Good enough to thwart any attacks? Be analytical & dont just call anybody useless. This is nonsensical

  4. Hmmm, butti abantu. One of the best shot stoppers in the game, Brazil number one Julio Cezar conceded 7 because of holes in his defense. That did not mean he was useless.

Mweene, came on with the score at 2-0 and the team with a man down. Until I see the highlights and the goals I will not judge the man and call him useless.

  5. MWEENE IS STILL ONE OF THE BEST GOAL STOPPERS HE IS JUST AT THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. ITS THE SAME SO CALLED BRAZILIANS WHO WERE HUNTING FOR CHRIS KATONGO DURING HIS DAYS. FORTUNATELY CK KEPT ON REFUSING TO TAKE THEIR OFFER.AT SO CALLED BRAZIL ONE WOULD BE DESTINED TO BE FINISHED.THAT IS THE BEST CLUB IN SA IF ONE WISHES TO BR OFF FORM

  6. i watched the game mweene isfinished thats why they prefer onyango. its not about conceding three goals its about how you concede them

    • Wow. Please Google Boko Haram, RUF, Liberia Civil war, Sierra Leone, General Buttnaked and we can compare notes after. None of us would categorize you in that bucket of evil doers. You have clearly shown a level of ignorance that can only be cleared by medical procedure known as a brain transplant.

    • u have the most illiterate backward brain ever. yo brain is positioned backwards. front is back and back is front. ignorant fool.

  7. @KWABENA PISO:
Such comments are outrageous. How can u make such a blanket accusation without justification. Please limit your comments to football rather than CURSING the entire Southern Africa. Are u indeed an African? I have my doubts.
Disagreements over football SHOULD NOT overshadow our sense of humanity, especially to our fellow Africans. Please let some degree of civility rule our conscience when discussing our beloved game of football.

  8. Back to football. I watched the highlights on youtube. Can’t blame Mweene for the goals he conceded. Only the first one he conceded looked save able if not for the power in the shot

    • Lol, so you forget the thousands burnt by Boko Haram, Cannibalism in Sierra Leone and Liberia, all those Generals lined up and executed under Rawlings…fool please. Why not approach the matter like a person who actually has remorse and common sense rather than saying stuff like “southern Africans are….” Atta

      • That’s too far Mumbi. We have a fundamental disagreement on something said, to wish death on someone in any capacity even behind a screen and keyboard is downright ignorant. I’m upset at what has been said, but I would never take it that far…you have basically nullified anything that has been said with that single statement that carries more weight than you can even imagine. Watusebanya bonse apa so. Sometimes its better to be quiet.

    • First, Southern Africa & South Africa are not the same, Mr. Piso. Two, is the behaviour exhibited peculiar to South Africans? Similar or even worse things are happening elsewhere in Africa. I am not condoning such behaviour but to invite curses on our already impoverished continent is quite unwelcome. Please fine tune your criticism of what is happening in South Africa & also do not blanket your criticism to the whole of “southern Africa”. There is a difference. Worse things might be happening elsewhere. Let us all keep hope alive that we will all overcome such atrocities on the continent.

  9. Let’s keep it football. Southern Africans are the ones getting killed too, so to say that rubbish and come here and feel entitled. Yes Kwabena Piso you are entitled to being a shallow minded prejudicial African who’s mind set is only an iota above that of those committing the violence. Kwasiya

  10. PLEASE CALL MBESUMA FOR COSAFA GAMES. MIND YOU GHANA WILL BE THERE. WINSTONE KALENGO AND JACKSON MWANZA CANT MUCH MBESUMA UPFRONT. THAT BOY WHO SCORED AGAINST NIGERIA U23 PLEASE INCLUDE HIM FOR COSAFA AS WELL.
