Mpumalanga Black Aces shot to the top of the Absa premiership with a 2 – 1 away win against Bidvest Wits thanks to a Collins Mbesuma brace.
Aces conceded first but Mbesuma lost his marker in the 16th minute to get on the end of a Nonane cross and he made no mistake with shot from within the box.
With Wits pressing for a win, Mbesuma pounced on a long ball from Mzava to find himself one on one with an advancing Moneeb Josephs to slot home in the 84th minute.
With 10 goals now, the Aces captain extended his lead at the top of the top scorers chart.
Aces now sit on top of the log but could relinquish their position on goal difference if Kennedy Mweene’s Sundowns win on Saturday.

Conlinto, at it again, he has destroyed them and proved that he is not finished.
Congrats collins am beginning to like this mpumalanga black aces team. They shud sign emmanuflop mayuka too.
The prolific striker Fwayo Tembo should also find a club immediately because i am fully convinced that the chap is not finished as well.Where is Felix Katongo? I am a little bit behind on this one.
Man of God never cease to amaze. There is your living history all you young players with little faith in yourselves. In other news, I hear the new physical trainer has abandoned ship? He’s gone back to England. Hahaha, but he knows that there is an arrest warrant for Kalu’s heard and does not want to be part of the shame.
Worderfull king daved go go go
Great stuff by Collins, even when people wrote him off some of us stood by his side. And @TC Soccerman don’t mislead the masses the Assistant coach has a tragedy that’s why he returned home. Let’s learn to be sincere !
Congrats Collins, that is the way to go. Keep banging the goals
Mbesuma is the main man now
Well done, keep banging those goals Collins! His really good foam,we will need him for Worlcup qualifiers.
Congulatulations King David.
Collins is looking fit and played the whole 95 minutes , held up the ball with power and scored with the knack of a deadly striker . Its a real pity that a lot of his good years were spent in the wilderness of Europe. His current coach Mushsin seems to have found a way to tap into the best of Collins unlike Sundowns, Pirates and Golden Arrows. A red hot Mbesuma more or less propelled Zambia up the FIFA rankings in 2005. Hope he stays injury free and wins top scorer of the year for PSL!!!
King david rejuvenated!
Mbesuma on fire in Mzansi!
Well done Collins. We are proud of you.
Congrats Ntonfontonfo. I wish we could find a new & young mbesumacoz soon age will catch up with him.
he will win golden ball bcoz in absa premier league for player to score 10 -15 goals they strugle alot at tyms u will find someone win it 8 goals like parker did last tym. am humbled with this mans effort lets hope we can hav 6-8 of them then we can be safe.
Agreed
Mbesuma is in scintillating form he is a natural striker no wonder Iam not happy when he is given a midfield role at national team. Kalengo can play as a midfielder behind Mbesuma
King David is set for wonders.
FOR SURE MBESUMA Z OUR MESSI,A DEPENDABLE STAR OF ZM,FROM KALU TO MBESUMA,FRM MBESUMA TO ??SHOW THEM DAT U RE A GREATMAN FRM ZM AS MESSI SHOWED THEM DAT HE Z FRM ARGENTINE.WAITIN 2SEE U WIT A GOLDEN BOOT.GO MBESUMA GO!
well done Collins mbesuma am sure the golden boot award is yours
Let’s gooo zambia.
yet other people are calling for Chris to hang his boots for The blunt young ones. Mbesuma and Kalengo have proven that in Zambia we are in a hurry to retire players before there time. Janza managed to destroy Christopher Kalengo, Isaac Chansa, James Change, Felix Kalengo and he tempered with Fwayo Tembo. Mbesuma has shown the administrators not to send any one on force retirement because of age. others even started calling for Mwenes blood. we hard walked into the same trap South Africa found themselves in after a team overall they hard. upto now, they have never recovered because they are still having the same mind. retiring the experience like Tiko Modise Shabalala and Parka. introducing young ones should be graduall, it’s not about, when will they play but it’s about, can they perform?
You are right players over 30 years are seen as old pa Zed. Look Totti from Rome he is 38 but still playing. Maldini played for Milan until he was 40. It is the player who should decide in accordance with how he feels about his body and not fans
I am really impressed with Mbesuma. Maybe Mayuka should have chosen SA instead of Egypt (no language issues)
This is the best striker ever to have played in the South African league.I started watching the South African league in 1993 and even Chukwu can not match the abilities of Mbesuma when it comes to scoring and not even Daniel Mudau or Fani Madida.
Bo Alexander. You’ve forgotten Chris Katongo who had left Cosmos for Europe during the transfer window as the league top scorer but returned at the end of season to be awarded the league top scorer’s trophy. No one could match him despite his absence! That’s a record.
I think Mbesuma is an all time great as far as PSL is concerned 35 goals he scored during the 2004-2005(Correct me if I’m mistaken) season is am unmatched by anyone else.
Christopher Katongo was also very good but Mbesuma has been very exceptional.Christopher Katongo struggled last season here in South Africa and it is like he only rose to the occasion once. There was also late Dennis Lota ‘Chesa Mpama’ .
Mbesuma is a complete striker, I could just thank the Aces team for putting trust in Mbesuma unlike Orlando Pirates who never gave him a chance, he will never disappoint that BOX.
Just hope Mr King David uses this chance to make as much money as he possibly can through ads and bonuses (apart his salary) to plan a comfortable retirement from soccer….which will happen very shortly considering his age. We are tired of seeing our former glories in dire situations yet most of them get opportunities in the career that should normally help them fare better than most other professionals.
Mbesuma at Golden Arrows was also deadly, he joined Arrows in January 2011 and ended that season with more than 10 goals them, the following season wasn’t bad either as he registered 7 goals and if my memory serves me then it’s the same coach who’ s coaching him now that also coached him at Arrows. At Pirates, his first season wasn’t that bad although he could’ve do better while the second was a disaster because the coach didn’t give him a chance .
While us Zambians are busy celebrating mediocrity with one of our best players scoring in another mediocre league Congo have hired piere lecharnte as their new coach. We are in serious trouble this coach is experienced and won afcon with Cameroon in 2000.
Mayuka’s move to zamalek is OK given that the player is finished. He needs to regain form and needs plenty of game time. Zamalek is a huge club in africa he can do that. But next year he must go back to Europe once his confidence is back.
There is no doubt Mbesuma and Kalengo are our best strikers at the moment. Reserves to the 2 should be Evans Kangwa and Sate Sate
We have to do with what we have. With selection based on merit and current form we can beat many sides in Africa. Just wondering why Chipeshe and Mkandawire are not in the CHAN team and yet they 2 were in the AFCON Q team in 2 games
Mbesuma forever
A new Zambian football story this one. Post the Gabon Disaster Africa Cup and this one if it goes to fruition. I hope the guy is learning some coaching as well. What a guy.
Ntofontofo and Mayuka’s is retrogression to us the Fans but may to him its not good move than playing for division 2

This guy has never ceased to amaze me. Many of the guys he played with when Chiefs won the League in 2005/2006 are finished. Remember guys like Sandile Ndhlovu (Swallows), Tso Vilhakazi(Pirates), David Radebe(Chiefs), the C.Katongos came and found him, S.Chalwe also came at Chiefs. The are many players who came and had much potential but the all in oblivion.
The man was called all kinds of names but he is still here and still scoring goals. I Salute you Mbesuma. Many players can learn a lot from you. I think you finding God has also helped a lot.
Faith in God plays an important role in a person’s life, not only spiritual but also career, business, family, job, etc. Faith in God is the path Mbesuma has chosen and is helping him in his football career. We should learn a lot from this man. Like you rightly put it, a lot of people wrote him out. But see what he is doing now. God is good all the time.
One of the benefits of participating and performing well at world cup tournaments. Nigeria u-17 world cup winning duo sign for Arsenal. Osimhen the tournament record breaking goalscorer(10 goals) is about to sign for wolfsburg
after he rejected interest from Arsenal. Note the word reject.
Deals agreed as Arsenal close in on three new signings ahead of Liverpool clash
By Editor Wayne Veysey
Arsenal have agreed deals for three new January signings after adding emerging Nigerian pair to incoming midfielder Mohammed Elneny.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that the Gunners were in advanced talks to recruit midfield sensations Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze to their academy.
This comes as they finalise the paperwork on the deal for Elneny, who has now been granted a UK visa as he flies to London to complete his £5.2million move.
An Arsenal recruitment source has told Football Insider that the London giants have reached an agreement on a double deal for Nwakali and Chukwueze and will secure their signings before the end of the January transfer window.
The north Londoners have beaten Manchester City to the signings of the exciting teenage pair.
The Premier League giants were among a number of leading European clubs who scouted Nwakali and Chukwueze in last year’s Fifa Under-17 World Cup in Chile.
Nwakali, 17, was named as player of the tournament, while Chukwueze, 16, also delivered a series of promising displays for Nigeria.
The deals are likely to be held up while the pair await work permits to play in the UK.
Done deal: Arsenal are set to announce Mohamed Elneny as a January signing
Nwakali is able to sign a professional contract as he has already turned 17, but Chukwuze will only be able to sign a scholarship deal.
It was also rumoured at some point that Arsene Wenger was chasing Charly Musonda Jr’s signature; the youngster is said to be tired of waiting to be given a chance to play for the first team at Chelsea. Any info on that?
You think the age grade competitions (u17, u20, u23) are useless. Think again.
Mbesuma scored 35 goals in one season in rsa in all competitions, eg cl, ned bank, league. Katongo is also great and would have surpused Mbesuma interms of league goals had he finished the entire season. Still CK & CM are better strikers than Mayuka who had never scored a hatric or a brace in one game.
Rwanda up by a goal against CIV in the CHAN.
Talking about zambia’s great Strikersntomhavenplayed in RSA, what of Albert Bwalya, Rodgers Lupiya, Wedson Nyirenda, the scud Missile fron Nchanga, Dennis Lota? etc. Who has beennthe finest?
@GB. The Scud Missile you are referring to who came from Nchanga (cant remember name)in the mid 19’s was a huge disappointment. Pirates eventually got rid of him. He was particularly toothless against Chiefs where Lucas Radebe won all their duels.
Ackson Shimbala was the name I think.
Yes, yes, that’s the man! Many thanks. He disappeared so quickly that few people remember him. The only thing he knew how to do was shoot when no one was marking him.
CIV are very useless. Maybe in the next game
Let him work hard both for the club n national team. if he qualifies Zambia to Afcon n his club the PLS championship he can contest the locals footballer of the year. he’s got discipline n maturity. he needs a very good guidance n for one king Davido, he’s got himself that born again character. we need our Gods dose but u just ask n act on that. Wish Mayuka did weight his worth because he need just that. Arabs culture is more hard working n seriousness. Hoping Ci mwaice Fwayo ubushilu akacinja. Let him go to Zimbabwe.

Mweene shud leave sundowns & join another psl club b4 it too late.
The TP site reports Katumbi has recruited a new coach, another Frenchman. Just hope our players live up to his expectations and none should be dropped from team for not being good enough. This is the only team where our players get regularly exposed to the highest level of football on the continent which is not only important for their confidence but increases their chance to be spotted by European scouts. The site also reports that Jonas SAKUWAHA was on TP training grounds along with Nathan and Given. Jonas is another one of that endless list of our players who have failed to put to good use their great talent.
None of our bloggers know the correct age of Ntofontofo Mbesuma! Speak to his mother u will be suprised!
Welldone Mbesuma…..
Collins is the only prolific striker that we have in Zambia. it’s a pity that he is now getting old…………
