Mazembe confirm Tandi Mwape signing

DR Congo giants Tout Puissant Mazembe (TP Mazembe) have unveiled Chipolopolo defender Tandi Mwape. Mazembe confirmed the signing of Mwape in a post on their official website.

Mwape was influential for Kabwe Warriors in the transitional season as the Kabwe based side went seventeen games unbeaten and nearly secured a continental football slot. Mwape has been brought in as a back up for Kabaso Chongo and Kévin Mondeko.

“If the TPM had problems in central defense, last season, having to move back, for example, Christian Koffi KOUAME to replace Kabaso CHONGO or Kévin MONDEKO, injured or suspended, an alternative is now found. The club has been able to secure the services of one of Zambia’s most successful prospects. His name is Tandi MWAPE.

From his good season at the Kabwe Warriors, he was called to the Chipolopolo Boys selection where he won the Cosafa Cup. Tandi MWAPE, since his time at the U23 in Zambia, has been on an uphill slope, and the club has reached an agreement for a five-year contract,” Mazembe posted on their website.

Kabwe Warriors have pocketed a reported transfer fee of around US $50,000 while will be earning a salary of $7,000 per month.

He joins fellow Copper Bullets in Nathan Sinkala, Kabaso Chongo and Rainford Kalaba at the Lubumbashi based side.

Mazembe won a bidding war against Zanaco who had shown interest in the COSAFA winner. Mwape even did medicals at Zanaco before Mazembe came in and signed him.
