Emmanuel Mayuka came off the bench to score for Egyptian side Zamalek SC to earn them a 1-1 draw against Algerian side USM Algiers in a CAF Champions League game on match day 3.
The home crowd was stunned on the half hour mark after Farouk Chafai gave them the lead.
Zamalek pushed for an equaliser to no avail and it had to take Mayuka in 90 plus minutes to find an equaliser.
The former Kabwe Warriors and Southampton forward has now featured in Zamalek’s last 4 games in all competitions.
In South Africa, holders Mamelodi Sundowns FC lost 2-1 at home to Esperance of Tunisia.
Kennedy Mweene was unused substitute as he continues to play second fiddle to Ugandan shot stopper Denis Onyango.
Elsewhere, Zanaco host Coton Sport at Heroes Stadium on Saturday.

Very sad how Mayuka has turned out. …..chilankalipa had so much faith in him
This is wonderful to see from Mayuka! Perhaps he will learn a lesson from Mbesuma and rejuvenate his career after a disappointing stint in England. He has helped his team save a valuable point in the CAF Champions League, and that is something to applaud. Since 2012 my children here in the USA have known the name Mayuka!
Me too, buh itx gud he scored jx 2 restore some confidence in himself
He should have talked to his agent to find him a club where he can have regular game time.He is too young to let his talent go to waste. Besides as soon as he has quality game time, we need him in the Chipolopolo squad.
Never give up sonny…
Congrats to Mayuka, whose name has been famous to my family and students here in Colorado since his heroics in 2012. I am very happy to see him make a nice contribution to Zamalek, and hope that he can follow the footsteps of Mbesuma and rejuvenate his career after the disappoiintment in England. Keep working hard, young man!
Yes, very sad! Ending up in Egypt!
he is actually 26 and not 25. he turns 27 this December
i’m wishing him a quick recovery i loved him as well.
I think he is better than some of those selected. He is a substitute on a team much stronger than substitutes locally but selected
He should shed off some more weight. Looking more sportsman than the last time i saw him.
Mayuka went on a path of self destruction like most Zambian players.. He could’ve been a great talent..
Its sad when Zed players’ talents die without even maturing from their potential
