Maylan Mulenga scored a brace to guide Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club to a 3-1 win over Red Arrows.
Esther Banda chipped in with a goal to seal a well deserved win.
Susan Banda on the other hand became the first player to score against Green Buffaloes.
The defending Champions’ amazing run of games without conceding a goal in the 2023/24 FAZ Women’s Super League has finally come to an end.
Buffaloes had scored 30 goals prior to Wednesday’s encounter without conceding any goal in nine matches played up to that point.
That run looked unscratched when in-form striker Maylan Mulenga scored with the last kick of the first half to send Buffaloes 1-0 up at the break.
Red Arrows midfielder Susan Banda broke Buffaloes’ record when she scored in the 46th minute to level matters before Mulenga restored the defending champions’ lead from the spot in the 63rd minute.
Esther Banda gave Buffaloes an assurance goal 20 minutes from time from 12 yards to take Buffaloes to the summit of the table with 28 points, opening a two point lead.
Copper Queens midfielder Avell Chitundu scored a brace to help Zegalicious Girls collect maximum points.
The win takes ZESCO Ndola Girls to second place on the log with 26 points.
The loss was also Indeni Roses’ first loss of the season after a run of eight wins and two draws in 10 matches.
Buffaloes will be away at Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles at the weekend while Indeni travel to Lusaka for a match against National Assembly.
The Airwomen will host Nkwazi Queens while ZESCO Ndola Girls are away to Police Dove Queens.
