Match Reactions: Janza, Mashaba impressed

Chipolopolo Boys coach Honour Janza has said he was impressed with the Copperbullets’ performance in a the 1-0 defeat to Bafana Bafana.

And South Africa’s Shakes Mashaba has claimed that his side were. tactically better.

“I think it was a good match, South Afria did what they could do, they played good football, they were fast and we expected that,” Janza said after the game.

“I’m happy with my boys as well, I know one or two mistakes have been made for us to allow them to get the goal but also we missed one or two chances.

“I think it’s important to utilise the chances but congratulations to South Africa, it was a good game.”

“This friendly was meant  for technical bench and the players themselves to see what they can and as coaches we can see who is ready and who is not ready.’

“There has never been a friendly between two nations. It’s always a question of pride,” said Mashaba after the game.

“They were very determined to come here and break our momentum, it was a good game, tactically we were more superior than them of course and unfortunately we couldn’t finish up the goals  we wanted to score.

“And fatigue was taking it’s toll in the last 12 -13 minutes of the game, you could have seen all the players looking at their legs and muscles,

“But all in all I would like to say thank you to Zambia, we can wish them the best of luck.”  he concluded.

  1. janza swallow yo pride and call jacob. u dont have a striking force. the knives will be out if zambia bows out in the first round

  2. MATCH STATS JANZA ARE
SOUTH AFRICA HAD 4 SHOTS ON TARGER AND ZAMBIA HAD ZERO! ALL KALU IS INTERESTED IN BESIDES TRYING TO GET A CUT FROM SELLING YOUNG PLAYERS IS BRINGING IN AN UNKNOWN EXPAT COACH OR RENARD INEXCHANGE FOR A CUT! JANZA AND PATRICE ARE UNEMPLOYABLE AS HEAD COACHES OUTSIDE ZAMBIA BUT KALU SEES OTHERWISE. EVEN PATRICE SAYS THE TIME HASNT COME FOR HIM TO BE THE HEAD COACH OF A NATIONAL TEAM BUT KALU SEES OTHERWISE. THE PROBLEM IS KALU!

  3. Its a no brainer, Kalu is the problem. Zambia is going no where in this tournament. I won’t even bother to take time off to watch. Its a time bomb waiting to explode.

  4. Its too late to start calling other players. I don’t agree with Shakes Mashaba,Zambia out played RSA, even though we had to allow that goal, came from a middle of the park..we have a team. This team will go far.

  5. What are our striker doing? Mbesuma and Katongo are right here in RSA in case you don’t wana spend much on those who are in Europe, so just tell them to catch a taxi and join you in camp, then it’s a problem solved.

  6. I am looking forward to a day when the coach and some player(s) can amicably sort out some problems for the sake of mother Zambia. However, it would appear that Janza is saying he would rather go and embarrass Zambia than sorting out problems with Chris, Jacob, etc. I have been told about some of the things Chris is alleged to have said but I was left shocked with the answers he is alleged to have given because there was no correlation between the two. Even then, I find the issue could have been resolved one way or the other.
Overall, we should not be suprised because even during the qualifiers we did not play well. Mozambique outplayed us though we managed one not-so-combing goal.
On Jacob, I feel the guy was left out due to his past poor performance and not his current form ( I saw this for myself in Turkey 2-3 weeks ago. In any case, he is the scorer of one of the few goals we scored during the qualifiers.
I feel pity for Janza because we seem to have no material in the country or elsewhere. These boys we are taking can easily buckle and are yet to cause even bigger embarrassments. The coach will randomly picked
from an academy using some obscure criteria does not seem to be adding any value to the team. There are many aspects of our game which require correcting.

  7. Kalusha Bwalya and Honour Janza have hijacked the National team and Zambian football in general. They are a cancer and should be kicked out. We are sick and tired of them. Enough is enough!

  8. Mayuka should be converted into a winger from being our top man. Katebe partner Sunzu, move Mtonga into the hole behind any top man. His pass rate is excellent for those killer passes upfront. He can easily create things for Sate Sate or Jackson Mwanza or even the under 20 Inspirational Patrick ‘Dude’ Ngoma. Fresh call ups must be veteran Joseph Musonda to provide cover for Mbola, Chris Katongo, more fire power and depth upfront and Richard Kasonde to add steel in the midfield.

  9. Richard Kasonde must be brought into the squad immediately. From the midfield to have a high return of goals is excellent. Its like Frank Lampard. That’s the man that Janza needs right now when there is still room.

  10. It seems there is a storm going on in Zambian Football from the time we won AFCON 2012 things have never improved. Things have been going down hill very fast. Another thing, people used to call Christopher Katongo ‘old’ legs and many more negative comments but now they are crying for players they all those bad names.
    BA ZED PANTU MUKONKULUDA.

  11. That is what I have always said that the team also needs Kasonde. We can even play with two defensive midfielders,Kasonde and Sinkala, then move Mtonga up just behind the main strikeer and bingo goals will just be coming.Drop players like Munthali,Malama,Chamanga to creat space for Kasonde, kola,Muzo and jacob.

  12. These people are hell bent on this squad, they think they ‘ll look foolish if they were to swallow their pride and listened to the fans, so we should just accept that this is the squad that’s going to Afcon and try as much as possible to advice on how best they can use this team for the sake of our country .

  13. How can a coach with a UEFA A licence be so tactically inept. Janza uses tactics of the 70’s. If you look critically at the way Janza was laying out his team in the qualifiers, it was a 4-2-4 formation even though in his mind he may have had a different idea. Singuluma, Satesate, Mayuka and Kalaba were the front guys and Kalaba found himself offside a million times. That’s why our midfield was dominated because we had insufficient numbers with only Sinkala and Chisamba Lungu. Janza may have intended a 4-3-3 formation on paper but that is not the way it was working out in reality. Kalaba should be allowed to play the way he plays at TP Mazembe which is in the middle where he is more devastating than on the wings.

  14. paradox and mumbi has started a verbal fight on gsn and it will be finished on zamfoot..ghanaians are putting on all the armor of verbal venom and ready to strike when zambia get eliminated in the first round of afcon so dont be suprise on that day when ghanaians intrude this site to increase your BS.let the zed players save you by riding on the neck of DR CONGO,TUNISIA AND CAPE VERDE..prepare,for the venom attack started by mumbi and paradox is near on zamfoot..

  15. Pipo bare with HJ, yesterday’s game main purpose was to come up with a formidable team to be used in this year’s afcon, of which a 1-0 defeat is one of the things HJ must sought out. Pls I burge of u all, let us avoid interferance in team selection and leave the technical bench to apply its best. It’s not gud 2day u say this 2mr u say that, it’s too confusing. Gud lucky chipos.

  16. This is what you get when you employ an inept coach. We are DOOMED with that Honour Janza has coach. We need an experienced coach with a proven track record and pedigree!

  17. We are going to be eaten alive at the AFCON with this bunch of small boys. I have insulted on this blog for calling a spade a spade and not a big spoon. I will continue to say the truth. I am always indicated for telling it as it as it is!

  18. honestly guys you ought to think this through properly. On one end we were saying we don’t need tired old legs in the team now, on this end we want the likes of Joseph Musonda and CK back in the team. I seriously don’t get it…where is the logic there we hauled insults at Janza insisting that CK should be dropped which he did. Today we still haul insults at Janza now asking him to beg CK to come back. c’mon people let’s move on please.

  19. kay hummer, speak on..people like you are limited in this continent because everybody love to be eulogized by pretending nothing is at stake.the truth just hurt.they love to fight with the truth instead of tackling it.anybody who attack you is engaging in error in reasoning, logical fallacy called ARGUMENTUM AD HOMINEM:a fallacy of attacking the personality instead of the opinion.your zed friends always APPEAL FOR PITY.i love those who are more objective in their analysis.

  20. The confusion I meant is that, the plys u want HJ to call are the same plys he relied upon in the 1st 3 qualifier matches only to pickup one point, not until he thought of using some fresh legs to rescue the situation and this is a team he want to strengthen, again u are busy calling for the same madalas who disappointed us even at 2013 afcon, come-on guys be real advocates and not always trying to find someone to blame.

    • Im not calling for Jacob though quite a few people are, i dont see how Jacob would change this team or has changed any team he has been in the last 3 years. Im not calling for Chamanga or young Zulu from qualifiers either for similiar reasons.

We need extra creativity and sparks in midfeild, rather than relying on Kalaba, Chisamba and Lubambo should he have a good game. Call Felix Katongo for sure.

I dont really believe that Janza will call anyone, but atleast let it be known that there were more options before Afcon than that presented to us.

  21. PARADOX,i hope you will rejoice when publish on this site that zambia will battle for the last place in their group which is obvious..is algeria better than germany?

  22. We need isaac chansa and jacob Kalu ed Janza swallo yo pride thus why local coaches can not be at the helM eitha way u want Renard ed Patrice a far better than Janza

  23. Ghanaboy i have always tried to be as objective as possible. I have been insulted and called names for saying the truth. I have just developed a think skin over the years. It’s a pity that we have alot of people of this blog who have refused face reality. They seem to live in a fantasy world. They think that a miracle will happen at the AFCON. It won’t come that easy. It will be very difficult. It will be impossible to win the trophy with a bunch of kids! It won’t happen!

  24. People like forgeting easily, forget about chris, joseph and jacob all we need to do now is advise the couch on players and substitutes to make. Don’t forget we are also building a new team, good luck chipolopolo!

  25. Some of us never called anyone names, we knew it from the beginning that it was a bad idea to make all those drastic changes in a very short period of time, it was supposed to be done gradually.

  26. Forget about old folks like Jacob , Chris, and others this is the reason why our third republican president Levy MHRIP said Zambians forget easily. We where calling new and fresh blood now we are saying it was a mistake to allow Janza to chop them from the team. Jacob and Chris lamentably failed us such that we called for an immediate Chop to old dinosaurs. Here we are blaming Janza for listening to our calls to chop the old dinosaurs like Isaac Chansa, Jacob Mulenga, Christoher Katongo, joseph musonda, Felix katongo. Remember AFCON 2013 these chaps failed to defend the trophy. Please give Janza some space and let him do his Job. Yes Munthali, Malama, Mayuka and Kabwe are not suppose to be in the final team but old folks should not be near the team. Lets not eat our vomits, in fact I was very happy that we lost because the technical bench has now alot of work to do than relaxing after playing our rival. Go Zambia Go

  27. Ndekutika fye. Go zed go. Ck, jm, ic, jm were all at once youg blood. Tneir experience came bcoz of being given chance to play. Dont forget kalaba and mayuka. Few years ago they were upcomings. So how can a player gain experience in afcon without testing it. Leave the boys alone. Salaula ni fake new clothes ni zwalakata. Mc wabwino sung nangu tiwine nangu tulu iye iye tulifipolopolo. Come 18th after 20hrs and see how yo toungue will change. Mark my words if u dont forget easily. U will be the first one to celebrate.

  28. Let us have a positive mind ba nfwetu. After completing s 7years university studies, a company advitises that they want a gualified engineer with not less than e 3yesrs of experience. Now where am i going to get that experiece if they dont give a chance to gain experience, experience? are there othemr companies thet make people experienced and then let then go. So i am 100%sure that this afcon experience for zambia will be far muchvbetter than the 2013 one ofb3points in three matches. The only mistake janza has made is to give kalabe the band instead of mweene.
