Copper Queens defender Margaret Belemu has finally been unveiled at Turkish side, Hakkarigucu Spor.
The Zambia Women’s national team defender Margaret Belemu joined the Turkish Women’s Super League club on a short-term deal last month.
Belemu traveled directly to Turkey after helping the Copper Queens clinch gold at the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship over the weekend.
The unstoppable right back has teamed up with countrymate and midfielder Misozi Zulu who has been at the eastern Turkey side since October 2021.
Belemu’s arrival in Turkey brings the number of Copper Queens players based in that country to three.
In February 2022, Copper Queens goalkeeper Hazel Nali joined Fatih Vatan Spor Kulubu on a short-term deal which was later upgraded to permanent at the end of the 2021/22 season.
The former National Assembly player was part of the Copper Princesses’ squad that played in the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
Belemu was also a valuable member of the Copper Queens squad that scooped silver and bronze medals at the 2019 and 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championships respectively.
The 25 year old was also vital in the road to making history by qualifying to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and also played at the tournament.
The pacy right back again played a big role as the Copper Queens stunned Nigeria to win bronze at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco two months ago.
