MTN Super League side Kansanshi Dynamos elevated Assistant coach Dennis Makinka to head coach following the departure of Mohamed Fathi who left the club after his contract ended on 31st May.
Makinka has penned a 17 month contract with the Mabanga Boys that will see him stay at Independence Stadium until December 2027.
Kansanshi confirmed the development in a press statement by Media and Public Relations Officer, Gwen Mulundu Chipasula availed to the ZamFoot Crew.
“Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club wishes to announce that Head Coach Mohamed Fathi has concluded his tenure with the Club following the expiry of his contract on 31 May 2026. The Club has appointed Denis Makinka as Head Coach on a 17-month contract, effective 1 August 2026 to 31 December 2027.
Coach Fathi joined the Fearless Mabanga Boys in November 2025 and guided the Club during an important chapter in its journey. Kansanshi Dynamos sincerely thanks Coach Fathi for his professionalism, commitment and contribution throughout his tenure and wishes him every success in his future endeavours,” Reads part of the statement.
“Coach Makinka also joined the Club in November 2025 as Assistant Coach and has played an integral role within the technical bench. His appointment reflects the Club’s confidence in his leadership, technical expertise and understanding of the team’s philosophy as it prepares for the upcoming MTN Super League season.
To facilitate his appointment, Coach Makinka has signed a new 17-month contract, effective from 1 August 2026 to 31 December 2027. The new agreement supersedes his previous Assistant Coach contract and reflects the Club’s long-term commitment to technical continuity and stability.”
Makinka will be supported by a familiar technical team, with Yoram Kasempa continuing as Second Assistant Coach, Buchizya Mfune as Physical Trainer, and Humphrey Kapoma as Goalkeeper Trainer.
Club President Douglas Nyirenda said the Club is grateful to Coach Fathi for his service and confident that Coach Makinka will build on the foundations already established.
