Majapa leaves it late as Athletico hold Nkana

Nkana were held to a 1-1 draw by Lusaka Provincial Division one side, Athletico Lusaka in a friendly match played at Nkana Stadium.

Nkana boss Beston Chambeshi named quite a strong side with skipper Diamond Chikwekwe leading the attack alongside Jacob Ngulube and Patrick Gondwe.

Athletico Lusaka were without defender Miguel Chaiwa and midfielder Gift Siame who missed the tie through injury but Kings Mutandwa, Desmond Nyirenda, Charles ‘Majapa’ Mumba and Julius Kumwenda were all unleashed at Chilata.

Nkana took the lead five minutes into the match, Patrick Gondwe with the goal off a Jacob Ngulube assist.

With the match headed for a Nkana win, Charles Majapa leveled matters in the 89th minute to make sure the match ended all square after 90 minutes.

The friendly match was part of the deal which took winger Patrick Ngoma on loan from Atletico to Kalampa.

After the match the two teams signed a memorandum of understanding which will see them work together closely.
