Justin Zulu was again on hand to rescue a point for Zesco on Saturday afternoon when he headed in an injury time equaliser as the Zambian envoys in the CAF Champions when they drew 1 – 1 with Guinean side Kaloum at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Zesco deployed a 4 1 3 2 formation in the game but despite looking highly defensive, Ibrahima Sory Soumah powered home a header after a Mamadou Kouyate cross found him unmarked in the box in the 58th minute.
Needing goals, Lwandamina rested left back Bornwell Silengo for midfielder Maybin Mwaba who had three attempts at goal, all parried away by Toure.
Just when all seemed lost for Zesco, Zulu rose the highest in the box to head in Mwaba’s goal with the game almost done.
Zesco coach George Lwandamina said his team could have wrapped up the game if they were patient.
‘We played a more offensive game. we created chances but we were just in a hurry to put them away, so if we had a little bit of patience, we could have wrapped up the game here,” Lwandamina said.
Zesco play Kaloum in a fortnight in Mali where the Guinean side has set base owing to the Ebola crisis in their country.
