Chipolopolo interim coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina has named a 26 man team that will go into camp ahead of the CHAN qualifier against Namibia.
Lwandamina who started his reign as Chipolopolo coach with a draw against Guinea Bissau over the weekend has retained all the local players who participated in the Cosafa Cup tournament last month but for Kennedy Mudenda.
The team is mainly composed of U23 players with six U20 players. Teenage striker Patson Daka who has spent the last seven months with the national teams has retained his place in the Chipolopolo fold and is joined by Charles Zulu, Kapota Kayawe, Lubambo Musonda, Patrick Ngoma, Boyd Mkandawire and Benedict Chepeshi among the U20 players in the team.
Zesco United veteran striker Winstone Kalengo has bounced back to the team together with Bronson Chama who missed the Cosafa tournament due to injury.

Hope he does nt disspoint des tm hw has selected has own team.
Zamfoot correct that please: it’s Guinea Bissau not Equitorial Guinea
Th squad looks promising. He has now pickd his squad so thy shuldnt b any excuse if he fails to go past Namibia.
Ha ha ha I have heard that sooo many times, my man Zambian squads are always promising on paper, once on the grass you just wish you were rather watching Tom & Jerry with your nephew!
There’s such a thing as player burnout. I hope FAZ know what they are doing with the kid Patson Daka. He’s been all over the place in a short space of time. I really fear for him long term. One may not always feel the consequences there and then but may start to experience persistent injuries later in his career. If FAZ do not manage Daka’s physical well being properly we will soon notice his performance levels nose diving. Give the kid a break!
Guys wt is happening to lubambo with his club any one with de news
I’ve been wondering the same thing. These Armenian clubs are probably done with signing Zambian players. Its like our players are quick to burn bridges as soon as someone speaks into their ear about doing better else where.
Only a Zambian footballer thinks burning one employer to get to another is good for business. No thought process behind any of this.
the good thing is that the team is mainly composed of under 20 & 23
this is good for exposer for the young ones
First time offering a positive opinion but with bad English . Needs to brush up on his “”exposer” for the young. Beginning to take advice. A good start.
We need to beat Namibia right in Windhoek.
Give the young lad Patson Daka some rest before he is fatigued.
pipo wht rest do you want to give to Patson.Thats a career he has chosen to always play look at messi he gets the coach fired if he doesn’t play he is always hungry to play.Player in Europe are always on the pitch evry weekend and midweek its part of there life and the inevitable ( injuries) are also part of life they come at any given moment even bench warmers have injuries.
I feel lets be objective in our analysis coz complaining abt the boy being used is detrimental!
@ Babadabe you clearly have no clue what burnout can do to young players. In Europe where you refer, players are well managed to maintain high performance levels.
This time we don’t want stories from chicken George, he has named his squad and we shall see what happens in Namibia, its time we re-established our winning ways. We don’t want anything less than a victory.
I hop ba george u will not play mtonga nd justin in da midfield 2gether. Plz find attacking midfielder, those who can read da game passing balls 2 strikers.
Finally someone who thinks in my line, we are failing to score because of playing two defensive midfielders. With the system of playing two defensive midfielders we sacrifice in creativity hence reducing the chances for strikers to score.
Charles Zulu????? Isn’t he suppose to be in spain on trial at Elche?
Charles was back a few weeks ago.Apparently his awaiting his club to call him
He’s also gone back to picking clowns like juckson Mwanza, donashano malama and winston kalengo. These Zambian coaches are all clueless…
We are not going anywhere with this useless coach. Even me I would have beaten guinea Bissau if I was coach. The line up he put up was crap he coat us 2 points. Janza is even better than this clown we need expats coaches now.
Why is Lubambo unattached? I thot that when a player’s loan spell expires like Nathan Sinkala, he is suppose to go back to the club that loaned him… As far as I know Lubambo is a K-Stars player who was loaned to Power Dynamos. Let him come back to Athur Davies Stadium. As for Charles Zulu, the lad is very promising. He is remaining with two months to finish his trials and is back home as the league is on recess in Spain. Namibia will not manage to contain Charles and Lubambo in the flanks; the have pace, skill and trickery. We will wallop them in a grudge match. Zambia 2-0 Namibia.
We need a coach that can read the game and work out strategies to combat the opponents instead of standing the whole 90 minutes and finishing bottles of water without even plan B. I don’t know these chaps at FAZ what they think because they have brought in a failure in Chicken George. Even the standards have dropped how can you have a top scorer the entire year with 15 goals. Its a shame on Kalu has his band wagon.
john wen are going to stop underestimating people… let the reign coach prove what he can do. dont just through words otherwise one you might regret it
In as much as we wasted a golden chance of leading the group comfortably, we need to give Lwandamina chance. I think it is not easy to get a team four days before a match and win it. He needs time.
I have been watching this game over and over every time it is repeated on SS. Us Zambians may regret that draw, that team is beatable over and over. Even in Guinea Bissau they can’t beat us. 2 clean and easy points we swatsed notwithstanding the missed penalty. that game was already lost to a draw.
Reminds me of 1993-1994, when our situation seemed to start badly, then becaome worse, then hopeless. But we stood firm and believed, and Voila!!!! there we were.
in 1993, First Zimbabwe came calling at Independo, and we drew 0-0, we almost cried. Then the team perished. We rebuilt and faced Zimbabwe in Harare, they scored first and all seemed lost, then the golden header from Kalusha sent us to Tunisia for that memorable 1994 final.
So let’s give ‘Chicken’ George time.
Ba John let’s nt jst talk for the sake of talkin let’s give Chicken space 2 prove himself he’s jst been appointed.
This is not a fair selection, ba lwandamina is picking players from clubs he has coached before, GBFC,Arrows, Zesco.
This man is the most stubborn of coaches, just imagine you keep all your European based players on the Bench in a crucial game?? and now he is bringing the same players that lost to Namibia and hoping to get a diff. result
How do you bring to a serious national team players like Kalengo and jackson mwanza. And leave out players like Alex Ngonga, Mudenda, Shadreck Musonda etc
gimme chicken and chips, please!
This chicken is a dull coach. He does not need to be given any time. How can you play 2 defensive midfielders at home. He wasted too much time in making subs. He should have changed things at half time. He should have removed mtonga and brought lubambo and removed mukuka and brought chisamba lungu. He should have switched to a 4-4-2 and moved kalaba to the center. The coach is dull. We are not going anywhere with him. Janza is even better.
Awe kwena our clowns are indeed useless clowns,Ngonga ,shaderick are out and Kalengo,Jackson in am now thinking it was not Janza messing up because even Chicken is some how confused or is it these coaches and Kalu need pyhchateric evaluation at Chainama.
Be wary of Namibia, they are on a high as COSAFA champions.
Mukolwe iwe,why have you left Kennedy Mudenda?
In the past we have had very exceptional talent, the likes of Collins,Emmanual,Kalaba etc never have we ever used them like this lad.Honestly,he does not even make people have goosebumps when ever he plays.
