Lwandamina lauds his player’s resilience and away goal

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina lauded his lads for showing resilience by picking an away goal against Yanga in the first leg of their CAF Champions League pre-group stage tie.

Thabani Kamusoko scored an injury-time strike to force a draw at the National Stadium in Dar es Salam. Patrick Sibomana put Yanga in the lead early on in the first half from the penalty spot.

When asked if Yanga’s good away record was something to be scared about, the Zesco coach sent a warning message to Yanga making mention that Zesco has equally never lost at home in International games.

“They scored through a penalty but my boys still pushed and got the important away goal,” Lwandamina said.

“Building a team is very difficult but these guys have managed to build a team. I anticipated that it would be a closed game, They pushed us. They pressed us so that we did not open up to play our own game but the experience being with us we resisted and never changed the approach.”

” Yes, Yanga have a good record away even during my time we did better away at home. Did you ask me if am scared? ZESCO has not lost a game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium,” he added.

Zesco United will host Yanga in the return leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in two weeks time with the winner set to progress to the group stage while the loser will drop to the CAF Confederation Cup.
