The FAZ Lusaka Provincial Division One entered week 31 of action over the weekend.
Kabwata Dynamos, Chongwe United are now deep into the Provincial Division One drop zone, Sable Bulls, Kalilo, Young Zanaco, Irwin and Happy Hearts are also not safe as the season nears a conclusion.
Seven teams in total are scrambling to avoid finishing in the bottom 2 positions with only 5 games to go before the end of the season– the race to maintain their status in the Lusaka Province Division One is getting interesting with every game that comes.
17th placed Chongwe United gave up their one goal early lead to lose 2-1 to rejuvenated Young Zanaco at Sunset Stadium. Chongwe United scored early through Simon Nsalani in the fourth minute of the match before Zanaco equalized through Elijah Kola in the eleventh minute to end the first half in a 1 all draw affair.
In the second half, the Young Bankers continued pressing to find the winning goal and it was Kola who completed his brace in the 70th minute to give the coach Willy Katenge coached outfit a well-deserved 2-1 win.
Bottom placed Kabwata Dynamos dropped points at home against Athletico Lusaka. Tryson Banda and Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda scored for Athletico Lusaka’s side while Augustine Kamanga with a consolation goal for Dynamos. A win for Athletico Lusaka pushed them to 9th position on the table with 39 points while Kabwata Dynamos’ roots at the bottom of the log table keep getting stronger.
In other matches, Young Napsa Stars grabbed all three points away to Riflemen in a 2-1 win while Kalilo registered a similar scoreline at home against Misisi Youth Academy in the chase for National League playoffs.
League leaders Young Green Buffaloes’ 1 nil win over Vector saw them maintain their 4 points lead at the summit following second-placed Lusaka City Council’s 2-0 win over Happy Hearts.
Elsewhere in a crucial derby at Catholic Ground, Chainda Bombers silenced Airport Warriors with a 1-0 win with Potipher Soko’s goal. Jackson Kampamba’s goal also delivered Shamuel a victory at Kyindu Ground with a 1-0 win over Irwin Rangers as Paramilitary and Sable Bulls settled for a goalless draw.
