Polish based Chipolopolo winger Lubambo Musonda scored a 68th minute equalizer within 8 minutes of coming on the pitch as Śląsk Wrocław showed character to defeat Croatian 2020/21 league season runners-up, NK Osijek 2-1 in a pre-season friendly encounter played in Croatia.
Having fallen behind to an early first half goal (9’), the Silesians rallied a win courtesy of two second half goals scored by Lubambo Musonda (68’) and Robert Pich (80’).
Speaking after the match, the elated Lubambo Musonda expressed joy on scoring and praised Śląsk Wrocław’s all-round team effort.
“We showed the team spirit by reversing the result in sparring with a really strong opponent. Of course, this is only a friendly match, but the goal gave me a lot of satisfaction,” Musonda said.
“It was a good friendly game. As you saw – we conceded a goal first but showed team spirit and especially in the second half it paid off. We fought to the end for goals and victory, scored two goals, and thanks to that we won against a really strong opponent.”

The former Power Dynamos man added, “When you work hard in training, you may feel tired, but you also know that you are doing a solid job in the preparation period and it will be effective over the course of the season.”
“Everyone gives their best in training and the same was seen on the pitch in today’s match. To this we add character, fight till the end and we earned the win.”
Musonda acknowledged that although a friendly game, the win is a step in the right direction.
“Of course, this is only a friendly match, but I’m not hiding that the goal I scored gave me a lot of satisfaction. I hope this is the beginning of many goals that will come this season.”
Śląsk Wrocław is a Polish side campaigning in Poland’s top tier, the Ekstraklasa and finished in 4th position during the 2020/21 league campaign.
