Local Chipolopolo to face Kuwait in Egypt

The Zambia National Team will face Kuwait in an international friendly match later this month.

The locally assembled squad will square off with Kuwait as part of the build-up for the 2023 COSAFA Cup.

Zambia has since named a 30-member provisional squad for the encounter which will be played in Egypt on 12 June, 2023.

The assignment coincides with the Chipolopolo’s AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast hence Kabwe Warriors coach Numba Mumamba has been named coach of the local squad and will be assisted by Power Dynamos coach Mwenya Chipepo and his Green Buffaloes counterpart Masautso Tembo.

The defending COSAFA champions are in Group B and will tackle Malawi and two Islanders, Seychelles and Comoros at the regional tournament in July.

Kafue Celtic Under-17 striker Emmanuel Mwanza has made the 30-member squad following his impressive showing at the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations Algeria 2023 where he averaged a goal every match.

Power Dynamos duo of Fredrick ‘Kante’  Mulambia and Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale lead the squad summoned.

Other notable names include Allan Chibwe, Luka Banda, Bwembya Kakungu of Mighty Mufulira Wanderers, Mathews Chabala, Golden Mashata, Kingston Mutandwa and Caphas Mulombwa.
