Laudit Mavugo scored a last-minute equalizer to help Napsa Stars share spoils with Zesco United in their opening match of the 2020/2021 MTN/FAZ Super League season.
Clement Mwape put Zesco United in the lead in the 11th minute but a late Mavugo half volley to level matters and make sure Napsa Stars got a point from a game. Zesco United dominated the match with the likes of Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Bruce Musakanya, and Winston Kalengo putting in good shifts.
Coach Numba Mumamba also gave former City of Lusaka captain Edward Tembo a run out on the pitch as he came on to replace Jesse Jackson Were, Game time was rare for the former U-20 national team player during coach George Lwandamina’s tenure.
Team Ya Ziko will be kicking themselves for failing to seal the result given that they had a lot of chances. Next for Zesco United is a home encounter against Forest Rangers while Napsa Stars will square off with Lusaka Dynamos in a Lusaka derby.
At Arthur Davies Stadium, Luka Chamanga scored the only goal of the game as Power Dynamos edged Young Green Eagles 1-0 in a less than inspirational encounter.
Prison Leopards remains at the summit after the first round of matches with Nkana finding themselves in the relegation zone alongside, Kitwe United, Indeni, and Young Green Eagles.
