Copper Queens star forward Rachel Kundananji assisted the first goal as Bay FC played a 2-2 draw with Houston Dash on their return to action in the National Women’s Soccer League.
It was an eventful 2-2 draw on Saturday night at the PayPal Park as the NWSL returned from its summer break.
After Bay FC took a 1-0 advantage into halftime, an action-packed second half saw the two squads trade goals.
In the 16th minute, forward Penelope Hocking slammed a goal to the top left corner off after being set up by Kundananji.
Houston equalized in the 74th minute when Kiki van Zanten connected well with a good cross from Avery Patterson to bring the score to 1-1.
Bay FC responded just two minutes later, Taylor Huff scoring from close range off an Alyssa Malonson assist to put Bay FC back in the lead.
With the match headed for a Bay FC win, Sophie Schmidt leveled matters two minutes to time to make sure the two teams shared the spoils.
The former Madrid CFF striker came close to scoring only for the post to deny her what would have been a beautiful goal.
Next for Bay FC is a game on the road as they head to ‘The Chi’ to play struggling Chicago Stars FC on Aug. 10.
