Kola’s Veria lose in league

Rogers Kola’s team Veria on Monday evening went down 2 – 1 to AEK Athens in the Greek Super league after conceding an injury time goal.

Veria started well and scored first in the 32 minute but succumbed to AEK Athens’ pressure to concede an equaliser in the 49th minute.

With the game looking like it was heading for a draw, substitute Hélder Barbosa scored a late goal two minutes into the referees optional time.

Kola came in as 71st minute substitute to make his third appearance in five games for his new club which is only out of the relegation zone on goals scored.

  1. I would I’ve express my displeasure at the pathetic team selection chosen by faz in order to market their players to foreign clubs. We are tired of such pathetic selection and demand our best professionals are called for this Egypt friendly to avoid embarassment.

  2. @john..FAZ is wasting time trying to market zambian local players but in the end NONE of them will even end up in EUROPE..Zambia needs to assemble the best players you have so they can be marketed to the bigger stage as they are already self established than brining in random local players for what? Brining them to Hope manchester united pick them up..PLEEEASSSEE, you gotta crawl before you walk and these local boys your gonna have against egypt are still crawling..bring in the likes of mayka and other small time european exports you have as they have finished crawling and are walking,

  3. Just be baced for an embarrassing result against the “mighty” pharaohs on the 11 October. Kalusha and his team just wanna do things their way. These people do not have the interest of the national team at heart but their own selfish ambitions. Those kids you’re lining up against Egypt, most of them won’t even play in the upcoming qualifying games.

  4. Guys we need to protest enough is enough. We are tired. Against guinea bissau I knew zambia would not score. How can you start patson daka and expect a goal in a senior international fixture? We are tired let us not be weak let us protest this rubbish we know they are marketing their boys at the expense of established players. We may not qualify for afcon 2017 because of their gimmicks. Congo has full control of that group as things stand.

  5. But you guys should not be surprised by the performance of lille. Renard is not a good coach he fluked two afcon titles. Zambia had a very strong team from 2010-2012. Even with bonetti we were the second highest scores in africa in 2011 behind ivory Coast. In 2015 ivory Coast has the most well balanced team in africa. Ivory Coast were bound to win that afcon. So Renard has a lot to do to prove he is a good coach and lille is a real test and one he might fail going by results. It’s expected for me I’m not surprised. I have always said it.

  6. @cutter and john, Zambia was angry for the Afcon cup, even if it was Bonetti were suppose to lift that cup.In fact, it was supposed to be lifted in 2010 looking at the way out played Nigeria. In 2012, we played Senegal,Ghana,Ivory coast and the hosts. How can say it was a fluke? Just leave Renard with his poor judgements.Zambia really worked for that cup, it was just the change of time which disturbed everything and after 2012, most of our player were not active in their clubs but you will the real Zambia now.

  7. Renard has always been an average coach. The guy had more than 2 months to buy attacking players at lille. His attack is blunt. Lille has access to great resources and can afford to buy great players. But this guy was busy sleeping. If he is not careful he will be fired soon.

  8. Some post are written by immature people who need some time to grow mentally
When a coach takes up a team he needs approximately a series of matches to settle down. This is what exactly is happening with Renard at lille. Roma was not built in a day guys. It took several years for Alex at Man to settle down

  9. As for the team selection, you need to give the coach and Faz, they’ve already said they are using it for the upcoming Chan qualifiers and the under 23 games in Senegal so why do you want a whole lot of European players who won’t be part of those games?

    • And the AFCON 2017 & WC 2018 qualifiers? Is it the U-23 and CHAN squad who will be playing? FAZ need to make it clear so that we know what their plans are. Obviously leaving out key players from important friendlies will always raise suspicion among the Chipolopolo faithfuls. They should tell us that it will be the U23/Chan squad to play in the qualifiers if thats the case.

  10. Herve rena is jst an average coach. A team like lille cannt be losin games to small teams. Scorin has alwys been an issue with rena. He should work on scorin tactics. I wish him the best of luck

  11. Yesterday’s match between Arsenal n Olyimpiacos ( Uefa) was a cracker. Just shows that with fighting spirit nothing is impossible.Olympiacos stole my heart, they gave Arsenal no breathing space.
I just hope Coach Simukonda watched that match so he can instill that mentality into our Under 23s.

  12. @ don and we have a zambian playing in the Greek league and Kalusha does not want to call him because he will not benefit from his potential sale.

  13. Playing in Greece is no guarantee that someone should be called to the National team., l Greece is not England or Spain, moreover that team he’s playing for is a small team, it’s not even better than the one Mayuka is playing for .

  14. @ duncandinho how many Zambians play in england or Germany? Playing in Greece for a zambian is actually a big deal and kola is supposed to be considered for selection we are supposed to assess him in friendlies.

  15. many people who comment on issues concerning soccer dont understand why coaches do certain things.Friendlies have a purpose and if coaches decide to use some players and leave some, many people will cry foul without understanding reason behind selection. Its a simple issue if you dont understand do not utter anything.
