Zambia U20 class of 2007 striker Roger Kola scored twice on Sunday to help Sensational Zanaco to secure a 4-3 win over Kitwe United in a week three MTN/FAZ Super League fixture held at Sunset Stadium.
The two goals took Kola to five for the season after the three goals he scored in the first two games a brace against Lusaka dynamos and a goal in the opening game against Red Arrows.
The former Gent forward has an early lead on the top goalscorers chart eleven years after he won the MTN/FAZ Super League back in 2008.
Kola Came to stardom after scoring 2 goals for Zambia Under-20 national team at the World Youth Championship in Canada as the junior Chipolopolo reached the last 16 round.
Kola was part of the fantastic four which didn’t feature at the African Youth Championship in Congo brazaville but had starred in Canada. Others who were part of that quartet were Emmanuel Mayuka, Justine Zulu and Stoppila Sunzu.
Kola emerged as one of the stars of the group stage alongside the likes of Edson Cavani, Luis Suarez and Gerald Pique. With that background, he attracted a host European clubs including Real Madrid.
Yes, the Spanish giants as his agent Graham Herydorn secured him trials there together with Fwayo Tembo even though they visited the Spanish capital at different times.
A deal in Madrid could not materialise and the lanky forward then headed to Isreal with Nir Karin. Again he couldn’t secure a Euro move.
Kola later made his deal in 2009 to Israel when he joined Hapoel Bnei Lod later moved to Hapoel Rishon LeZion and then F.C. Ashdod before making his move to Belgium in 2012 where he stayed up to 2017 before returning to Israel and later Zambia.
It’s too early to tell if he will hold on to the lead and eventually win the golden boot but one thing is for certain Kola still has his lethal goal scoring instincts.
So zamfoot just playing for u20 has earned him a title as king?. come on let’s not misuse the term. just encourage him to work hard maybe this time might just play in CHAN team.
I feel this guy has not lived up to his billing as anticipated. He was seen as one of those strikers who were going to take africa by storm together with mayuka but the opposite is true.
