Zesco United Football Club has qualified to the next round of the caf Champions league. Kenyan talisman Jesse Jackson Were scored the only goal of the game as Zesco United cruised to a routine 1-0 win over Green Mamba to complete a double over the Eswatini side.
The Ndola giants came into the match with a two-goal advantage having won 2-0 away in the first leg thanks to goals from Umaru Kasumba and John Bwalya Ching’andu.
Zesco United settled quickly playing in front of their fans. Were capitalized on some poor defending to score a beautiful half volley in the 14th minute to send the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium into a frenzy.
Zega could not, however, add more goals as the match ended 1-0, Zesco United progressing with a 3-0 aggregate scoreline.
Zega Mambo will now play Yanga Fc of Tanzania which as two Zambians in their ranks, Noel Mwandila as Assistant coach and former zesco United striker Maybin Kalengo among the strikers.
Township Rollers surprisingly lost at home 1-0 despite holding the Tanzanian giants to a one-all draw in the first leg. Juma Balinya scored the only goal of the game from a free-kick. George Lwandamina will now face his former team.
