Full-Time Scores,
👉ZISD 3-2 Police Dove Queens (Lungowe Namasiku, Thokozile Daka, Suzen Evaline Katongo | Enelesi Phiri x2)
Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club this afternoon registered their first victory in the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League after they defeated Police Dove Queens 3-2 in a 5-goal thriller in a Match Week 8 encounter.
ZISD were going into this match knowing very well what was at stake in this encounter and the same could be said about Doves.
Lungowe Namasiku opened the scores for ZISD after being set up by debutant Evarine Katongo before Dove’s prolific goal poacher Enelesi Phiri Equalized to make it 1-1 going at the break in an entertaining affair.
After the restart, the match continued from where it left off with end-to-end action from both sides but it was Doves who looked set to extend the lead and it paid off, yet again Enelesi grabbed an opportunity and managed to beat the ZISD defender together with the Goalkeeper Esther Tembo before slotting home the ball in an empty net to make it 2-1 in favor of the Fearless Girls.
This lead did not last long because a few minutes later there was drama as Thokozile Daka leveled the scores with a well-executed shot to make it 2-2 and the game opened up once again.
However, just before everyone thought the match was headed for a draw, Zambia Women’s National Team midfielder Susan Evarine Katongo who is now on the books of ZISD scored the match-winner from a header benefiting from a free-kick and much to the amusement of the home fans who turned up in numbers to support their team as there was a wild celebration at Independence Stadium.
This goal was beyond comeback for Doves who should have felt they could have done better especially after they took the lead but lack of concentration contributed to two quick late goals as that unsettled them and it ended up being a painful 3-2 loss for Doves while it’s a sweet victory for ZISD.
ZISD’s next assignment is a home game against Nkana Queens while Doves will have back-to-back fixtures starting with Lusaka Dynamos on Tuesday 4th May 2021 and a few days later lock horns with Nkwazi Queens in a Police Derby in Solwezi.
Elsewhere YASA Queens and Indeni Roses shared spoils at Hospice ground in Lusaka. Grace Kamanga put the visitors in the lead just four minutes into the match after a mixup between the defense and In’gutu Muchahabali.
The lead did not last long however as Mirriam ‘Marie’ Moono leveled matters with a close-range finish, Neither team could find the winner as they settled for a point each.
