Kansanshi Dynamos visit in form Power Dynamos

Fresh from winning their first game of the season last weekend Kansanshi Dynamos visit one of the most in form teams in the MTN Super League, Power Dynamos in a rescheduled Week 8 fixture of the MTN Super League against Power Dynamos FC,

The two teams will lock horns at Arthur Davies Stadium this afternoon with Power hoping to build on their good run while Kansanshi Dynamos will be looking to make it two wins in a row.

Abayellow are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions and have kept clean sheets in three of their last four matches.

Power Dynamos head coach Oswald is expecting a tough match against the Mabanga Boys.

“No team is an easy team. All games will be tough. They won their first game. They are full of confidence. So they are coming here to fight. We should play to win. Like I’ve said, no easy games. But this is football. We just have to apply ourselves so well in the game. That’s what we need to do,” he said.

“I think for me we have managed our rescheduled games very well and we hope to continue and for me it’s all about the positive attitude. Positive attitude, positive energy in the team. Yes, games like we said come thick and fast but we are able to manage through the rotation of the players.”

“Of course, we are stressed in terms of our fitness and health-wise, but this is football. We knew we were going to pass through this, and no reason we are doing a bit of rotation where we need to, of course not forgetting that we need to have the balance in the team and also try to play to win, because at times when you rotate so much, you remove the instance of trying to win the game, and yeah, we always rotate, but with the balance we try and win,” he added.

Power Dynamos are currently third on the log table with 18 points, six behind log leaders Red Arrows and Mutapa wants his side to win their games to keep up the pace with the two teams above them.

“Yeah, it’s important that we stay within touch, and that means getting three maximum points. You know when you are up there, you have to maintain the standards. So with us breathing just on their necks, football is emotional and it has pressure. You never know what happens, but we first have to win our games before we put pressure on those guys,” he said.

Meanwhile Interim Head Coach Yoram Kasempa says the morale in camp is high following their first win of the season edging Nchanga Rangers 1–0 at Independence Stadium.

“The morale is high. Everyone is ready for the game and putting in more effort. We’re looking forward to facing Power Dynamos,” said Kasempa.

“It’s a 50-50 situation. We know they are a good team, especially at home, but we also have our plan for them. We’re ready,” he added.

Power Dynamos have won four of their last eight meetings with Kansanshi Dynamos and last lost to the Mabanga Boys in the 2019/2020 season.

On paper it’s a huge mountain to climb for Kansanshi Dynamos but football is played on the pitch with their win over Nchanga Rangers, they are motivated while Abayellow also want to keep their momentum ahead of a return to action in continental football, setting this up to be an intriguing encounter.

Elsewhere, Kabwe Warriors welcome Green Eagles at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium this afternoon in a rescheduled week nine encounter. Eagles are unbeaten in their last six games while Kabwe Warriors are coming off a narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Red Arrows.

The magnificent people’s team are eying their first win over the Kawale Boys since 2023 with Perry Mutapa keen to keep their unbeaten run going both in the last six games and against Kabwe Warriors since 2023.
