Kansanshi Dynamos head coach Dennis Makinka says his side are determined to secure maximum points against ZANACO on Saturday as they look to build on their recent victory over Konkola Blades in the 2026 Transitional League.
The two sides meet at Sunset Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 hours, as both teams seek to strengthen their positions in Stream A.
Makinka says confidence is high in the Kansanshi camp following their 2-1 victory over Konkola Blades, but insists his players must improve their finishing if they are to maintain their winning momentum.
The coach revealed that the technical bench has focused on addressing weaknesses exposed in their previous outing, particularly the team’s inability to convert clear-cut scoring opportunities.
“We are coming from a win, so at least the morale is high. You could see from the way we have been preparing with the boys. We have been working on our weaknesses, especially finishing, because in the last game we had a lot of chances but could not convert as many as we could,” Makinka said.
The Kansanshi coach also acknowledged his side’s struggles on the road in previous fixtures, including their encounter against FC MUZA, and says Saturday’s match presents an opportunity to change that trend.
“We did not travel well in our previous away games, so we are looking to change the narrative and collect maximum points. We have no serious injury concerns, just a few knocks, and everyone is good to go for the game,” he said.
Despite his team’s confidence, Makinka expects a difficult encounter against a Zanaco side he regards as one of the challenging opponents to face on home soil.
The Bankers will also be eager to respond positively in front of their supporters after drawing 1-1 with NAPSA Stars in their previous match.
“Zanaco are a very good team. I think they drew their last game, but at their home ground they are a very difficult team to play against. We expect a very tough game,” Makinka said.
He also highlighted Zanaco’s new additions, including former Kabwe Warriors player Clement Mundia, as potential threats, underlining the need for his players to approach the contest with the right mentality.
The fixture carries added significance, with both teams level on four points after three matches in Stream A. Zanaco occupy fifth place, while Kansanshi Dynamos sit sixth, separated only by goal difference.
While Zanaco will be looking to make home advantage count, Kansanshi will draw encouragement from their recent victory over Konkola Blades and their 1-0 win over the Bankers in their most recent meeting in February 2026.
The historical record, however, favours Zanaco, who have won five of the nine previous meetings between the sides. Kansanshi have recorded two victories, while the other two encounters ended in draws.
With both teams seeking to climb the Stream A standings, Saturday’s encounter offers Kansanshi an opportunity to build on their recent success, while Zanaco will be determined to secure a result on home turf.
