Kangwa wins player of the match accolade in Belgrade Pari Cup win 

Klings Kangwa and his Red Star Belgrade side have warmed to a new season some silverware after they won the Pari Cup preseason tournament in Russia. 

The Serbian Mozzart Bet Superliga Champions who are in Russia for preseason bet hosts Turkish side Fenerbahce 3-1 to seal their win. 

The Zambian international was named player of the match for his great performance putting in a 71 minute shift before being replaced by Guelor Kanga. 

Kangwa is happy with the team played and hopes the team can continue in the same direction as they prepare for the league and the UEFA Champions League. 

“Good game, we prepared well and deservedly won the tournament. The season has started well, we are going in the right direction and we should continue like that,” Kangwa told the club’s official website. 

“The most important thing is that the team plays well. It’s nice, of course, to win individual recognition, and it’s certainly an even greater motivation to work and progress,”  Kangwa added. 

Red Star scored their goals through Nigerian Peter Olayinka, Mirko Ivanic and Vladimir Lucic while Joao Pedro scored the Fenerbahce consolation goal. 

Earlier on Belgrade beat Azerbaijan side Neftci Baku 4-0 and hosts Zenit St Petersburg 2-1 to finish top of the invitational Cup with 9 points. 

PARI CUP 2023

1. Red Star – 9 points, goal difference 9:2

2. Zenit – 5 points, goal difference 4:3

3. Fenerbahce – 1 point, goal difference 1:4

4. Nefci – 0 points, goal difference 1:7
