Kangwa Returns Home Safely as Zambian Players Remain Stranded in Israel

Klings Kangwa has confirmed that he has safely returned to Zambia after leaving Israel amid the escalating conflict involving Israel, Iran and the United States.

The Chipolopolo midfielder, who plays for Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Be’er Sheva, took to social media to confirm that he had successfully made his way back home to Zambia.

“Dear everyone,

I would just like to let you know that I have safely arrived back home in Zambia.

Thank you to everybody who has been checking on me and sending messages to make sure I am safe. I truly appreciate the support,” Kangwa wrote.

Kangwa’s return brings relief to many Zambian football fans who had been concerned about the safety of players based in Israel following the intensifying military exchanges in the region.

However, several Zambian players are still believed to be in Israel, including Chipyoka Songa, Kennedy Musonda and Evarine Susan Katongo.

With commercial travel options limited due to the ongoing conflict, the most viable exit route for those still stranded is believed to be through neighbouring Egypt.

This has raised calls for the Zambian government to consider facilitating transit visas to help the players safely travel through Egypt on their way back home.

Meanwhile, international media reports indicate that the conflict continues to escalate. Military strikes between Israel and Iran have persisted into the sixth day, with both sides targeting strategic positions across the region.

Several countries have begun increasing their military presence and evacuation efforts. The United Kingdom is reportedly sending additional jets to Qatar while European nations are strengthening defenses in Cyprus.

Evacuation flights for citizens of the United States have also begun, although many people remain stranded as travel options remain restricted.

As the situation continues to evolve, attention remains on the safety of Zambian players still in Israel, with hopes that arrangements can be made to ensure their safe return home.
