Kamanga: Zambia is a stepping stone for many coaches

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has urged Belgian born coach Sven Vanderbroeck to follow the likes of Wedson Nyirenda and Herve Renard and use Zambia  as a stepping stone.

Kamanga said this on Tuesday as Vanderbroeck was being unveiled as Chipolopolo Boys coach in Lusaka.

“Zambia has been a great beacon of hope and stepping stone for many emerging coaches in the game,” the FAZ chief said.

With previous Chipolopolo boss Nyirenda taking over at Baroka FC in South Africa, the Belgian has a perfect example.

The other coach who used Zambia as a ‘stepping stone’ is Frenchman Herve Renard.

Renard came to Zambia having worked as Claude LeRoy’s Ghana Assistant/Physical Trainer, the little know Frenchman has gone to win two African Cup of Nations titles with Zambia and Ivory Coast as well as leading Morocco to the FIFA World Cup.

It’s been a historical journey for the Frenchman.

“It is our hope that this becomes a historical journey for you as a coach,” added Kamanga
