Champions Zesco shot to the top of the league table after they beat Power Dynamos 2 – 0 in a rescheduled fixture played at Arthur Davies Stadium on Thursday evening.
In-form striker Winstone Kalengo scored the opening goal for Zesco to take his tally to eight goals as he joined Jimmy Ndhlovu as the leading scorers in the league.
Substitute Jonas Sakuwaha scored the second goal for Zesco in the 85th minute to send the Champions back to the top.
This was the first goal for Sakuwaha since he returned to Zesco on loan from TP Mazembe.
The match was momentarily stopped after Sakuwaha’s goal following crowd troubled caused by the irate Power fans.

though im a zesco surpoter i agree with john that our ligue is weak, becoz these zesco strikers they failed 2 register even a singl goal agains mbabane swallows of swaziland & kaloum stars of guinea, (home & away, 4 games no goal frm strikers) in 2015 caf champions ligue, the goals were coming from justine zulu a midfielder, bt in zambia their buisy shining.
On the balance of play I think Zesco deserved to win the match. They out played power especially in the first half they could have scored even 3 goals but for poor finishing. I hate to admit it especially that am a Power fan but i think Zesco has just got a strong team whether our league is weak or not is a subject for another day but judging by what I saw Zesco look the real deal & it’s going to take a lot to stop them
Sense, in fact how do we judge a strong league? What criteria should we use to determine which league is strong because in other countries I always hear of the same teams in CAF competitions year in year out, isn’t that a sign of a weak league but with a very strong team? Anyway as you have put it, this topic is for another day, for sure Zesco will be a hard nut to crack.
Zesco are “big fishes” in a very small pond.
As are Barcalona and Real in Spain. As are Bayern in German. And as are PSG in France. The Zambian league is a bit like the Premiership where every season at least 3 or 4 teams go in as genuine title contenders. (Not saying our league is as strong as the EPL).
We need to form a league independent from faz. Our league will b evn mor interesting. Upto now our league does not hav a match ball, no proper stats record keeping, no player of th month awards, prize money is ussually set after th league winners hv been known. Let Mtn sponsor th national team only, n th seperate league’s board shuld look fo a anothr sponsor. This way, playing in th local league is goin to b a good thing n players will evn stop goin to fake leagues like th PSL.
I kinda like your proposition ba Fox. Faz should oversee national teams affairs and other leagues. The PL should be run by a separate body as is the case in England to great effect.
Winston Kalengo has been an Unsung Hero. I know the exploits of Winston from his days at Zanaco, brilliant goals! He has not stopped, he has now matured into a stronger and better player. Thumbs up, you deserve to be in the National Team from way back. Keep it up bro.
