Kachinga summons 28 for Women Championship qualifier

The Zambia national women’s team has gone into camp with coach Albert Kachinga summoning 28 players ahead of the 2016 Orange Africa Cup Women Championship qualifier against Namibia next month.

Former captain Kabange Lupopo who is also scheduled to represent Zambia at the Rio Olympics in athletics has bounced back in the squad which also includes 2014 U17 world cup finalists Hazel Nali, Margret Belemu, Martha Tembo, Mary Wilombe, Barbara Banda, Penelope Mulubwa and Grace Chanda. Kachinga qualified the team and coached at the World Cup.

Zambia qualified for the Africa Women Championship for the first time last year and played at the tournament which was hosted by Namibia.

Zambia host Namibia on March 6, in the first round, first leg for the finals to be staged in Cameroon between October 26 and November 3 later this year.

The Zambian lasses have either Tanzania or Zimbabwe waiting in the second round.
