Kachinga bemoans missed chances

Prison Leopards head coach Albert Kachinga was full of praise for his team after they held CAF Champions League envoys, Zanaco football club in a stalemate draw at Sunset Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kachinga believes his team fought so hard to win but they wasted a lot of chances to put the ball behind the net.

The first chance for the Correct boys came as early as in the 3rd minute as Landu Miete came so close but his execution was not so impressive and he squandered a goal-scoring opportunity.

Leopards kept knocking on Zanaco’s defense but it was goalkeeper Charles Lawu with an outstanding performance as he kept the bankers in the game.

“Now we need to start building from where we left off. The intensity of the game was very high the whole 90 minutes, but I can commend my boys they really fought very hard and we created so many scoring opportunities but we squandered them, equally zanaco squandered their scoring opportunities but I feel it was a good game,” Kachinga told the ZamFoot Crew.

The game came to a hault in the 85th minute when tempers for both teams were raised after Emmanuel Manda’s effort was awarded as a goal which appeared but it did not cross the line.

The goal was awarded by the center referee Audrick Nkole but later canceled after consultations with his first assistant referee. Kachinga was seen clearly frustrated and invaded the pitch to confront the center referee during the fracas.

“It wasn’t a goal and that’s why even if we check the replays on supersport it was clearly not a goal, and I can happily say that the linesman saw it and that’s why he never moved, so for the referee to award a goal minus the linesman reaction I was surprised,” Kachinga said.

Kachinga believes his team has not done well so far this season compared to how they were last season.

“I think we haven’t done too well but we will still keep fighting on but if we can improve on last season’s league standing I will be very happy,” He concluded.

Zanaco has now failed to score a goal in the 4 matches they have played so far this season and they have conceded 4 goals so far with only 2 points picked up from the possible 12 points.

The Correct Boys have also only managed five points from six games with only one win to their name.
