The Zambia Under-20 Girls’ National Team intensified preparations for their FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Uganda after holding their first official training session at FUFA Stadium in Kampala on Thursday morning.
The Junior Copper Queens trained under warm conditions and adapted quickly, showing confidence, sharp movement and focus as they fine-tuned plans for the crucial first leg of the two-legged encounter.
Head coach Florence Mwila has travelled with a strong and balanced squad as Zambia target a positive result away from home. Several key players were prominent in training, including Mercy Chipasula, Mwila Mufunte, Margaret Gondwe, Saliya Mwanza, Lweendo Hanongo, Jessy Zulu and Blessings Zangose Zulu, all of whom have been named in the matchday group.
Zambia will be aiming to seize the initiative in Kampala before the tie shifts back home for the return leg in Ndola, where a place in the next round of qualification will be decided.
With the Poland 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup firmly in their sights, the Junior Copper Queens know that a disciplined performance in Uganda could prove decisive as they continue their push for a maiden appearance at the global stage.
