Zambia’s Junior Chipolopolo Boys signed off their 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) | COSAFA Qualifier campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Namibia to secure the bronze medal in Maputo, Mozambique.
Perry Mutapa’s side responded positively to their semi-final defeat by South Africa, producing a dominant performance against Namibia at the ABB Stadium.
Defender Gift Mumbi broke the deadlock in the first half, giving Zambia a deserved lead at the interval.
The Junior Chipolopolo continued to dictate the contest after the restart and were rewarded for their dominance when forward Sipho Muntanga struck twice to complete a comfortable victory.
The result ensured Zambia finished third in the regional tournament and ended their campaign on a winning note.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s Amajita successfully defended their COSAFA Under-20 title after overcoming hosts Mozambique 2-1 in an entertaining final at the ABB Stadium.
The victory confirmed South Africa as regional champions for a second consecutive edition and completed another successful campaign for the defending champions.
South Africa and Mozambique’s progress to the final also secured their qualification for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
