Jesse Were leads top scorers chart

Kenyan international striker Jesse Were is leading the Zambian super league top scorers chart on 12 goals at the mid-way point in the season.

Despite Zesco United still having a game in hand, the lanky striker sits comfortably at the top of the chart with his closest rival, Nkana’s Walter Bwalya trailing him with two goals.

The 27 year old striker had his biggest haul of goals when he pushed four past the leaky defense of Mufulira Blackpool.

With an additional two goals in the Africa against Horoya AC and Stade Malien, Were has proved a good acquisition for Zesco United.

In the 2015 season, Jimmy Ndhlovu and Winstone Kalengo led the top scorers chart at the halfway mark scoring 8 goals apiece.

The total number of goals scored so far stands at 275 giving an average of 1.81 goals being scored per game.

Zanaco are the highest scorers with 35 goals giving an average of 2.06 goals in each game.

The bankers have the biggest spread of scorers with up to 12 players being on the score sheet so far this season.

Fashion Sakala who was only signed by the club this season has settled well to lead the team’s top scorers chart with 7 goals.

Steward Chikandiwa is the highest scoring midfielder with 6 goals to his name so far.
